Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2012
According to something called 'Transfer News' on Twitter, Cheltenham are favourite to sign McLeod and are offering a "more competitive wage than Walsall"

Joe Lamplough
Things are certainly looking up... one of the trialists "looking really fit and trying really hard" is this fella. Released by Hull - released by the mighty Mansfield and then released by the even mightier Brigg Town!!!

He left Mansfield to join the Glenn Hoddle circus in Spain for two years, actually? He must have seen something in him, so I'd say worth a look.

So he didn't play for Brigg Town then? Think you'll find he did after being released from Mansfield.

When he left the Hoddle Academy last September. Still worth a look

A player with no league experience to speak of is, "worth a look"?
Jesus Christ. Conference here we come.

So you aren't one of the ones continually going on about picking up non league players? Can I remind you of:
Same as the "sign someone from the lower leagues" bunch, then moan that we don't pee money up like P'boro. The same Peterborough who made an £850,000 profit on Aaron McLean after they bought him from non league Grays? The same Peterborough who made a £2.5m profit on Ryan Bennett after buy...

Non-League players that are valued by their club and cost money to acquire - YES - not non-league players struggling to find a club! Bloody hell, it's not that hard to make a distinction, it's common sense.

To be quiet honest with the lack of players at the moment if he's good enough and can do job for us i'd take him wether or not he's from non league. He must have had something about him for Hoddle to be intrested in him.

Isnt it the other way round ... Dont players pay Hoddle to go out there an be trained by him & his coaches in return for getting them trials with League clubs?

mossa wrote:Nathan Clarke looks a good player, over 300 games for Huddersfield. A good age at 28 as well, give the guy a two year contract if we are to make him a offer. I suggest we use all of Mackem or Ledesma wage (whoever was on the most) to try and get Mcleod. Proven scorer at league 2, no reason he can't do this in league 1 if he has a settled club. Also like us to sign a target man up front as well beacuse our options at the moment are woefull.
That's the most sensible suggestion I've seen all summer, apart from the McLeod bit obviously!

Pessimistic as I am, this just reminds me of the 'ultimate professional.'

Wouldn't go that far, but being allegedly beaten by Cheltenham is a disgrace and there's no excuse to be had, no disrespect to them, but fudge me, we're Walsall FC not Macclesfield Town.

Ooh i'm sure there's some excuse brewing about how we shouldn't dream to compete with financial powerhouses like Cheltenham if needed.

According to one of their fans:
There it is. Excuse right here.
Our budget is probably the highest it's been since we gave Allen so much to waste. We had a very successful season financially last season so it won't surprise me if we're offering more than a couple of League One teams.

That's probably right. Lucrative Wembley final and a decent FA Cup run (and trip to Spurs) would have boosted their budget substantially.
Wouldn't be surprised if we are being outmuscled financially by the likes of Cheltenham. Sad to say it but it's true.
