Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2012
We've recently had a one year contract rejected by a forward recently released by a 'Midlands club'. Opted to sign for another League One side instead. Informed us last week, set to sign for them this week. That's all I know, sorry.

This is just for fun!
I have just trawled through football rumours and here is a list of everyone linked to us (who hasn't yet signed for someone else). Assuming we had the money to sign them - who would you sign? I'm don't know who half of them are and I'm not sure there's a decent team amongst them - but as I said - just for fun.

Why's that terrible? What did he do to prove he was worth keeping on his existing wage? I didn't see too many League One clubs in the hunt for him after he turned down a contract with us.
24 goals in over 200 appearances isn't good enough for a striker - even if he is a local lad.
I suppose it depends if you believe that we offered what we think he's worth or the maximum we can afford. The next few weeks should give clues to that question.

Maximum we can afford wage wise, which is what? 1.5-2K? If they didn't accept that then the worlds gone mad, but obviously we didn't offer any of them that sort of wage, or even close, cause they're gash. League Two and below players
We offered what we felt was right within our already small budget, few declined and were allowed to move on.

Clearly we could 'afford' to offer Nicholls a new deal on the same terms as he was on before. And if Smith felt he was half decent, given that he'd already released Macken, he'd have kept him. If he was on the sort of money a number of different people seem to have suggested, it was an absolute waste of money so Smith has every right to want that cash to spend elsewhere.

Someone close to Nicholls said he was offered a pay as you play deal. If he played 30 games plus next season he would have earned a tad less than this year.
He and Taundry were always squad players. Neither were gonna play well for 40+ games a season and I always felt that their carears were going backwards so to offer them reduced terms wasn't bad on Smith or Walsall's part.
Let's see who we sign (if any) then can decide if it was the right call.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2012
Heard rumour that Enda Stevens could join on a year's loan deal from Villa.
He's a 21 year old Left Back they signed from Shamrock Rovers in Jan this Year.
Don't blame me if it's not true though - new source for me.

I've heard this with Villa stumping up part of his wage.

It must be true it's in the E&S

2 goals in 23 for a striker is hardly prolific is it?

Also played at left back on a few occasions for Wolves Reserves. Saw him in that position a once or twice!

Better cross Ashley Hemmings off that list, and take back everything you ever said about Football Rumours. They finally got one right!

Yep, barely played up top, winger with bags of pace and some skill to boot.

Try halving those numbers, and you'd be closer to the top whack we'll be paying next season, I imagine.

I'd guess around £1k a week, heavily bonused, and I imagine he's our top earner.
