Re: Crying Germans
I actually thought their players took defeat well... loads better than ours would of. Always remember Stuart Pearce saying that after 1990 he sat trying to provide a pee sample with German players who behaved very politely seeing as he was absolutely devastated. He also said he didn't think the England boys would have been so gracious if the result had have been reversed.
Saying that... loved seeing them go out.

Crying Germans
Interesting coda to this story. The woman pictured crying during Germany's semi final defeat has come forward to say that, er, she didn't cry during Germany's semi final defeat.
She did, however, cry during the national anthem at the start of the game. This in turn led to UEFA admitting that their television producers were authorised to insert previously shot footage into the live action to pep things up a bit. Maybe next time they could insert a few extra goals into England's knock out games.

Certainly true I reckon. I've just watched "One night in Turin" for the first time, with Matthaeus's consolation of Waddle after the last penalty being really notable. I've a lot more time for him having seen that.

Its a shame that defeat kickstarted the process which has made them a power in Europe.

Re: Crying Germans
(To the tune of "Camptown Races") -------"Two world wars and one World Cup, doo-dah, doo-dah....."
or, if you prefer......
(From the Flanders & Swann "Song of Patriotic prejudice" intro monologue) "And whatever you say about the Germans.....and who doesn't?"
or, there again........
(Barry Davies, after the England hockey team had just scored their third goal) "And where were the German defence.....and, frankly, who cares?"
Love them all
