Re: Euro 2012 Prediction comp,
>>>
Rules
32 players are split into 4 groups of 8 players each - Euro groups A, B, C, D. Each player predicts on all the games in that group (6) - both half time scores and full time scores. One point for each correct result and two points for a correct score, so 4 points available from each game and 24 in total.
The top 4 players from each group will qualify. These will go through to the knockout rounds.
16 players will take part in the first knockout round. Players will be paired off and both will predict on ONE game. Players will predict on the score at 23 minutes, half time, 68 minutes and full time. The score at the end of extra time and penalties will also be predicted. So, maximum points are 8 for the full time game, 10 at the end of extra time and 12 if it goes to penalties. The player gaining the most points will progress to the next round.
Example: 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 2-2. Ex. 3-3. Pens 4-3. Player: Stuart Downing
8 players will progress to the next round and predict in the same manner.
There will be 4 players that will predict on the final game, using the same system. The player with the most points at the end of that will be declared the winner.
Notes
Predictors will also predict ONE player in the group stages and ONE player in each of the knockout rounds that they think will score the most goals. This is to provide a difference if players end up on the same points total.
Results displayed on the BBC site will be the record of exact time of goals and goal-scorers.
Hopefully this will provide an entertaining contest without being over-complicated. I think it will work, but any input and comments are welcome.

Re: Euro 2012 Prediction comp,
Too much?
Possibly one for prediction purists?
I think the groupings are useful - as the games come thick and fast so I'm not sure everyone would be keen on predicting every single game - not to mention the working out it would involve. I also think the head to heads would be good too - something different, adding a bit of needle and they mirror the tournament games effectively.
Any one person would only have to predict 6 games in the groups and 3 further games to win which shouldn't be too troublesome.
Still, I've put forward my suggestion but willing to go with the majority so any constructive comments are welcome.

Re: Euro 2012 Prediction comp,
Alternative rules:
Everyone predicts on how many goals are scored in total in their group in the knock-out rounds.
The rough half (rounded up) closest to the correct number of goals scored progress to the quarters and guess how many goals then.
Best half advance on to the semis
Leaving about 4 in the final to play that.
Advantages: simple, no limit to players.

I think you will find that accolade belongs to me, you obviously dont recognise it because i am that skilled at hiding it.

Saigon, I know I pm'd you earlier mate, but I have now added in my bro to the latest list above to save you the bother, hope that is okay. I will inform him that he is entered and if he wants or needs to withdraw he can let you know.
The competition sounds a lot more complex than the one I was thinking of possibly doing but should be fun - looking forward to it starting and getting knocked out early on!!

Re: Euro 2012 Prediction comp,
6 places left (It's Casual D by the way Pinnacle - prediction league regular)
I will take some pics of the prize tomoz and post up here when I get the opportunity.
The rules are not yet set in stone, so any feedback is still welcome and majority rules as far as that is concerned. Mods - can this be moved back to Off Topic for a bit - it's a bit lost here.

I'd agree with this and back up the call to move it back to SOT!
Although it involves England, it is a prediction competition as the others and does involve all games involving all the teams not just our nation of underachievers!
