Perhaps the issue is that, aside from perhaps Bowerman, is there actually a player on the bench you'd like to see in the team instead? As pathetic as they were on Tuesday, the cupboard is bare.

I thought Gnakpa made more of an impact than Nicholls did when he came on. I take your point about a lack of options in the squad, but there are some. The message Smith has sent out to the players is that their performances are irrelevant to his team selection.

My thoughts too Rob, initially. But unfortunately, BT's probably right.

Thankfully there will never again be a place for 'I once scored a scorcher from a volley' Grigg...I think his days of being given a chance to prove his 'worth' have long since slithered into the reserves until we can get rid...then watch him blossom into an 'international'....Ha!

Gnakpa is one of the more frustrating players of recent years, he looks dangerous but unfortunately hisactual impact is nil. Nicholls was the most disappointing player of all of the dross on display on Tuesday - I had sympathy on Saturday v Charlton as he got little decent possession. On Tuesday, he had tons of attacking possession yet chose to lay it off etc rather than take a player on. However, he should be up front with Macken with Paterson on the wing - and then put out on loan to the conference team (if he's lucky) where I'm sure he'll end up if he doesn't take his last chance this season.
The only defence I've got for Smith is that, with only a few exceptions, the efforts of the players are generally sound - contrast this to the shambles under dogface last year. Given the option, I'm sure that there would have been numerous changes today.

MIght not say much but Nicholls imo has been our best player alongside Butler this season so far. Our only real proper attacking threat.

Talk of promotion is absurd.
I want the title not just plain old promotion
Play offs unacceptable.

HT, so far so good.
This, and the dale game, might be the season making/breaking games possibly.

Do you mean break our hearts completely with two more defeats? or am I being a tad sarcastic?

Nothing wrong with having a twisted sense of humour, the only way to being a proper wfc fan imo.
Given bonehead's past history in January, 4 points is probably the minimum acceptable, or O'Kelly will probably be the one to get the massive January transfer pot to get a proper league postion for our properly run team.

Gringeworthy sad fact is, that if Chesterfield equalize we will be third from bottom, if they then get a winner we are second from bottom! Hard facts of life in the relegation zone! :(

Just an aside...why have we wasted all those funds on the loan of Halliday? what has he played so far? 10 minutes?

If we win today though, the Sheff Wed protest will be dead in the water before it's even started. :D

Chesterfield have been more involved second half.
Sounds like we are defending well.

Is it backs to the wall Chester or are Walsall having a bit of a go back?

Seems like they are having most of the ball with us counter attacking
Corner to us as I write but cleared.

Always worries me when we do that.
Suppose it's understandable though when you're where we are.
