What is it about players scoring against their former clubs? Lescott hasn't even come close to scoring against anyone else!

Full Time 2-2
At least we're not losing, and if the players can actually now believe a little more we may yet have a chance.

Decent result in the end, but letting in 2 goals in 1 minute has to be questioned.

A shame we couldn't have capitalised more in the first half. It's the classic adage - if you don't take your chances you live to regret them. All the same, we shouldn't have been letting 2 goals in a minute in against anyone. Hopefully Deano will be learning quickly. Combative midfielder and some defensive organisation needed quickly.
Still, good not to lose - we really need to pull 3 points out at home on Sat - I might eveb drag my backside there to give the lads some support.
Come on Saddlerrrrrsssss

Or, to put it another way, we need to be 8 points better in the second half of the season! Can't be hard, surely? :D

Re: Bristol Rovers (A) League 1 Tuesday 11/1/11. Re Arranged
Disappointing in a way to only come away with one point, having led at half-time, HOWEVER.....
If that game had been played when originally scheduled (in December) I'm pretty sure we would have been well and truly shafted.
There's a very old saying in football - if you can win your home games and draw your away games you will end the season as Champions. I realise it's rather late in the day for that to apply to us this season, but I take heart in the two away fixtures we've had without dog-face. All we have to do is to sort out the home form (easier said than done)!!!
I'd have to agree with a post already made - it's almost unforgiveable to concede two goals in two minutes

Sorry Duke, it really is 8 points from safety (unless we win a few games 8-0!!)
And Exile, it really CAN be hard..... and don't call me Shirley

Re: Bristol Rovers (A) League 1 Tuesday 11/1/11. Re Arranged
Just spoken to my dad as he was leaving the Memorial. The verdict is that Kuffour changed the game when he came on and that we should have put the game to bed in the first half with the number of decent chances we had.
On a performance note, apparently the players are now showing some togetherness, some passion and a bit of fight. How disappointing is it that it's taken til now for us to find those basic qualities?
I defended Hutchings for a while longer than I should have and I was wrong to do so. Smith's taken charge and all he's done is got the players putting the effort in - as a result, we look more solid.
Personally, I think we've had it after tonight's result. Not normally the sort to have a 'half empty' outlook, but I said before these two games that I thought we needed to get at least one win and we've failed to do so.
Maybe if we get a new manager in with some fresh ideas, sign a centre half, a midfielder and a striker, we'll be ok? Massive ask though.

You're right, but we've taken more points away from home than we have at home so far this season.
I'm really hoping that either Dean Smith or a new manager will get us busting a gut at home because without an massively improved home record, we'll be down without a doubt.

Home or away we've got to beat the sides around us if we want any chance of staying up. Sadly we can't do that.
We're 7 points off, sides around us have a game in hand.. And we face Huddersfield next.
We're relegated.

Well done lads - happy with that overall considering the only chance we had in the 2nd half was put away. Would have taken that at the start to be honest, with them installing Penney.

Another good away point in my view, and a pity I could not be there as I was working about two miles away from 'The Mem'. So near, and yet so far!
Tonight's Bristol Evening Post linked us with Paul Trollope in the preview of the game, apparently saying bookies make him second favourite behind Dean Smith for the job. Not sure if there is any truth in it, or just idle gossip. Probably the latter.
UTS
Edit - that's 8 matches unbeaten on their patch, with 5 wins and now three draws. Not a bad record.

I was saying exactly that two weeks ago , whoever takes over as a massive task to avoid the drop no doubt about that ,
We are now half way thought the season and at last the team are showing togetherness , fight and spirit .
Lets see what Saturday brings .

Incorrect - we actually need to be 15 points better - 7 to catch up from the first half and another 8 to match and overtake - if that makes sense - it is possible but we have to start winning at home.

7 or 8 points from safety. Over the remaining 23 games it is comfortably achieveable if the players are up to it and have a bit of luck. If they are not up to it then we'll go down, but we are far from 'relegated'.

I'm also usually a glass half-full person but I realistically can't see how we are gonna get enough points to survive.
Usually you would look to your home games but our or record is shocking and of the 13 homes game left , 9 are against teams in the top half of tonights table.
Bizarrely I think we have shown a sort of togetherness and spirit for most of the season because for a team in the bottom 4 for most of it we haven't really been tonked too many times.Unfortunately togetherness and spirit are not much use without ability , organistaion and discilpline and they are 3 big things to be short of!
