1-0 FT, fully deserved win and we're off the bottom!
Only problem is that we only scored 1 goal when it could have been many more.

Just got in from some festive shopping and I can't believe it - what a result, and not a smash-and-grab 1-0 away win either
Things might, just might, be looking up.

Wonder just how many disappointed folks have had their fixed odds coupons done with that result!

I expected us to get stuffed, so a massive pat on the back to all involved today, including Hutchings.
It sounded like they were awful, but maybe that's what we needed to get the season back on track.
Going into the game having seen yesterday's results, I thought it was probably a must win. Just massively relieved that we managed it, and impressed that we deserved it.

Terrific result. With his two against Carlisle and this one today, Matt "Liability" Richards has suggested he's anything but.
Great result. Delighted for the hardy 114 souls who travelled. Looking forward to a match report or two.

A great result and well deserved according to both the Radio London commentary team - who were excellent and well informed - and my mate who went.
Well done to the 114 who made the trip.

Charlton Atheltic (A) League 1 Sunday 12/12/10 .
What a great performance (going by the stats) and result. The nightmare scenario now must be a Dann-esque sale of Richards in January for £2m.

Seven of our eight away points have now been gained in London.

Does this speak more of the real capabilities of this squad when motivated?

The thing is, this squad ALWAYS looked good on paper, one of the best for years. A view shared by various people I have spoken to. Fingers crossed we kick on. There is quality, just Marty and Hutch have failed to galvanise it...

Re: Charlton Atheltic (A) League 1 Sunday 12/12/10 .
Well, I sure never saw that one coming!
Great result, and my God was it needed after yesterday's results had dumped us even further from safety. Well deserved too from what I picked up on the radio, but I was annoyed that I couldn't get the live commentary - was it working for anyone else today?
Anyway, now they've proved what they can do, will they now manage to achieve any consistency and give us some real hope of survival? Let's all hope so.

Might be a total coincidence but this is the first (league) match not to feature any of our army of loan signings.

Re: Charlton Atheltic (A) League 1 Sunday 12/12/10 .
Just back from the game and thawing out!
Where oh where did that come from - not just the result but the performance, which was one of our best of recent seasons.
From the very start we took the game to Charlton and completely dominated the first 20 minutes. Charlton just couldn't get going and their fans became very restless. Even though they improved after the break they didn't look a promotion side.
Brain looked solid in goal, Westlake didn't put a foot wrong. Lescott was a bit sloppy with some distribution but linked up well with Gray on the left. Centre of defence was magnificent with Butler a rock - nothing fancy, just whack it clear, but how well it worked. Taundry was busy in the middle, Richards also impressive today and scoring a fantastic goal in front of our fans. Jones and Gray on the flanks caused some problems though their Keeper Elliott dealt very well with all balls in the air. (His kicking was often wayward though.) Up front Nicholls led the line very well, looking the perfect target man but also showing good pace on occasions. His finishing needs working on though, he missed a good chance very early on and then a clear 1 on 1 in the final minute, shooting straight at Elliott. Grigg was mobile and willing, but didn't really get many shots in. Paterson could have headed in with his first touch and did nothing wrong in the time he had on the field.
This squad has ability running through it. Here finally was the evidence. Even Charlton fans on the way out were saying we could have scored 3 or 4. Is this a flash in the pan or can we build on it - the key question.
Our small band of fans deserve their moment in the sun.OK this was not sun, more the freezing cold air of South East London. But their moment it most certainly was.

Re: Charlton Atheltic (A) League 1 Sunday 12/12/10 .
Me and the old man just back as two of the hardy 114.
Stunning performance.
Effort was excellent and then some.
Organisation excellent.
Forward play ( in second half) excellent , bar the finishing .
Defence - never really under the cosh but felt much more confident with Butler there. Brain NEVER TESTED.
I have been to a lot of away games over the years and I cant remember deserving a win as much. It really should have been 3 or 4 the amount of openings we had in the 2nd half.
Men of the Match: Taundry - seemed to be everywhere ; Butler and Westlake . Westlake really looks good on the ball , very impressed.
Fans responded in the 2nd half and the whole squad came over at the end.
I dont care if we caught Charlton on a bad day which we surely must have done given our dominance at times , it was a superb team performance nonetheless.
WE AINT DOWN YET

......and a "team goal " worthy of winning any game; lovely ball to the back stick, lovely lay off from Gray and lovely finish from Richard Matts. LOVELY!!! :D
