Very poor at the back, lucky that we're still in this game.

As I have been 165 miles away for the last 12 years can someone give me any positives.
From what I am hearing on 'Walsall Player' live there are none.
Including attendance 'Record Low' never mind the game.

I dont think the attendence is a suprise. We got 2,300 against Bury in the opening round last year. Heck, we didnt get more than that for Ropers return with Luton in the area quarter final the year before.

Re: Chesterfield (H) JP Trophy Tuesday 31/8/10
Are we really going to lose at home in a cup competition again?
There's quite a list over the last few of years:
06/07
Swansea 0-0 Lost on pens 4-3 R1
Macclesfield 0-1 replay, FAC R1
We did beat Plymouth 1-0 with Scott Dann's first goal for the club in the first round of the LC, but lost at home to Bolton [1-3] in the Second.
07/08
We lost in the first round at Swansea [LC] and Bournemouth [JPT]
We did reach the THIRD round of the FAC, losing to Millwall in a replay after wins over Shrewsbury and Northampton.
08/09
Darlington 1-2 LC R1
Luton 0-1 JPT R1
Scunthorpe 1-3 FAC RI
09/10
Bury 0-0 Lost on pens 5-4 JPT R1 or R2 - we may have had a bye in the first round
We lost at Accrington 2-1 in the first round of the LC.
We lost at Brentford in R2 of the FAC after a first round win at Stourbridge.
10/11
Tranmere 0-1 LC R1
Not a great record is it?

This was the area quarter final. We got a bye from the first round, beat Cheltenham away (I think) in the next round, then lost in the quarters to Luton

Not really surprising - I only predicted 8 more! Possibly the lowest attendance for a competitive match in the ground's history.

In all fairness, and this is only my opinion... Chesterfield will finish in the top 6/7 of League 2, if not an automatic spot. We are nothing more than a mid/lower table side, with a shortage of players/confidence we're a bottom 8 side in my honest opinion, so we're what, 15-18 places above them or so. On that basis, it is disappointing, but its hardly a shock.

We did indeed, I stand corrected. Maybe it's not so bad after all.....

1-2 down to a League 2 side, and we've had two players (Westlake and Lancashire) booked
Just watch, it will stay 1-2 because that's the only scoreline we're having this season.......

In the league maybe, but cup games provide escape from this scoreline, with a 1-0 loss to some blue Scousers.

But how do I show my face in the morning, working with 7 ardent Huddersfield fans, it's a joke an I ain't laffin much.
1 - Tell 'em it's only a game
2 - Tell 'em it wasn't unexpected and we played the reserve team (would they know who's who?)
3 - Tell 'em Chesterfield played a blinder and you'll never see anything like it again
4 - Throw a sickie
There's 4 approaches for starters. :D
besides, still more than 15 minutes to play. :D
