Re: England v Hungary
Nothing else on TV.
A better formation too, just what fans were calling for, Gerrard playing behind Rooney. So far it looks to be working too, everything seems quicker and more options to pass it seems.
Walcott is dire though.
Adam Johnson has impressed me though.

Steven Gerrard has just scored an absolute corker.
That, after Wayne Rooney was booed off :D Waved goodbye to the fans too 8) Rooney to retire anyone? I could work as a journalist coming up with rumours like that.

He's just scored another great goal, twisting and turning around the defence. Brilliant.

He had to really, the humiliation of going 1-0 down to the world's 62nd best football team would have been immense. :D

A complete player, shown by two contrasting but equally exquisite goals.
Nice.

Also shows what a bad decision it was to leave Adam Johnson at home for the World Cup!
He will be the next big thing for England, Im sure of it

I really wanted him to go. Better than both Walcott and SWP by a mile.
I'd even go as far to say he's better than Lennon.

And Fat Frank did I suppose?
England can do without the likes of Terry and Lampard. Useless Cockneys.
Gerrard and Rooney on the other hand?
Even Scouse hater, the Pieman, would agree they have to stay in the England side!

Perhaps having the imposed burden of the captaincy put upon him only shortly before the campaign (a problem created by the long-term incumbant disgracing himself and short-term holder being injured) didn't help his personal performances, which were very average, despite a goal. However, his performances were a lot better than some. It was excellent to see him hold his hands up to the press that the players had let the fans down. He accepts his responsibility in that.
What probably added to his world cup woes was having the former incumbant as a 'well poisoner' in the camp, questioning the manager's authority and trying to stir up trouble.
Finally, what also complicated matters was being played in a position that isn't how he plays at Liverpool. He played just behind a lone striker last night and, as if by magic, scores two impressive goals.
So, how much of the above do we attribute to Gerrard, a player who you clearly despise irrespective of what he actually does, and how much may we lay at the door of the spawn of a drug-dealer and shop lifter, who has no concept of loyalty when it comes to team-mates (either personally or professionally)? How much do we place the blame with a manager who chose not to play one of the best players in the world in a position that pretty much everyone with any sense said he should be played in?

As you have invoked my good name onto this thread I can only, horribly, agree.
Those two rateaters are good players at international level and for reasons we all don't know, none turned it on for the WC.
Personally, I think Lampard was tidy but quiet last night but Terry still hasn't read the "defending for dummies" book I sent through the post. Maybe his Mom pinched it.
Whereas Gerrard, Rooney and Lampard are in for their talents, Terry is in because 3 centrebacks of ours are made of glass.

So, after 6 points this weekend, should Gerrard keep the armband when Rio returns?

You'll get a worthwhile answer to that when I get the keys to SJ's Spanish mansion.
