Walsall v Aston Villa - Friendly - 27/7/10
I've always wanted to start a match thread, so no doubt I've got some pertinent detail incorrect somewhere.
Anyway, form is that Villa were dicked by Bohemians on Saturday (titter) and we're GF-0 GA-9. James Milner will probably be absent from their side, pending a £Fartoomuch move to Manchester City (probably), whereas our striking riches mean that this may be the last Troy Deeney appearance for the club.
Seeing as I'm making a rare effort, it would be nice to see a goal from one of our players.

You may see a Walsall goal tomorrow, as Villa are flying out to play in Europe Wednesday,
so they`ll probably send their reserves.

He will not be involved in Tuesday's friendly against Walsall, but will join his team-mates when Villa fly out on Wednesday for the Guadiana Cup featuring Benfica and Feyenoord.

There's always some sort of scandal in the Villa camp around the time they play us.
Lee Hendrie booted the ball at his own fans after they gave him a bit of stick, Barry was constantly booed 2 years ago & now there's 'Milner-gate'.

Managed to get radio WM on my computer, but of course there are other matches on.... we are taking our turn with the Bagladies and Custard games - from what I can gather we're 0 - 0 after 15 minutes or so. And as they play the Rolling Stones "This could be the last time" what do you know??? Vanished - complete silence.... :(

0-1 down to Vile after 25 minutes.... Walsall's defence teased down the wing, good cross and a header past Brain....
"John Carew is tearing the Walsall defence to shreds"
"Mike Kearns seems to think the Villa goal went in off Westlake"
Troy Deeney had an early chance with a good header, but Brad Friedel brought off a fantastic save, according to WM

It sounds like we're playing okay. And who gives a flying fig about the Balti Pies :x ? But then WM, like the majority of the mainstream media, only deal in cliches.

He scored past the Villa last year aswell.

It's the start of the goalrush. Port Vale lost 1-0 to Aberdeen tonight, so they're obviously there for the taking.

According to the OS both Clayton McDonald and Manny Smith went close to scoring at the very end.

Re: Walsall v Aston Villa - Friendly - 27/7/10
We played really really well tonight, much improved performance!!! Carew was running the midfield when he got the ball and the goal was off Westlake because Brain would of saved it if it didn't come off Westlake. 100% a goal off Westlake.
Deeny headered from close range in the first half and if it wasn't Friedel that was in goal, it would of gone in, stunning save. Brain pulled off a save like it with a few minutes gone aswell.
No idea how Byfield managed to hit the bar when the goal was just pretty much empty.
As soon as carew came off they were all over the place.
So summing up, if we play like we did tonight against MK Dons, we'll have no problem turning them over.
One last note, was a bit worrying seeing Deeney taking his shirt off and handing it to a kid and walking off... considering the shirts are all named and numbered with the Npower football league badges on the arms.
