Why should we be signing players that aren't good enough to replace whoever is already in the team? So what if it means Westlake gets pushed out, it forces him to improve to get his place back. We shouldn't be looking at signing any squad players, we should be signing players who improve the first XI, not improve the squad.

I agree. I also think at this level it is better to use a genuine first team contender out of position than a 'squad' player.

[quote="Stu"]NitrousOxide is just repeating what somebody keeps posting on FootballRumours, no more substance behind it than that, it was on there about 7-10 days ago.

Stu I'd love you stop pre-judging what I know as I know more than you thnk but won't release it on here until press release or chris or martin come out with it in the press. Yes most of them are off footy rumours but...... I know than you think :)

lol - I'm not pre-judging. Its the first time I've ever replied to one of your posts and I was merely pointing out that your post was on Football Rumours 10 days earlier, with the exact same list of names. I didn't say it was right, I didn't say it was wrong.

I'll take it with a pinch of salt as we've had dozens of posters over the years who reckon they know signings, strangely enough they never say until after its been officially confirmed. Strange that. As I say, couldn't give a fig either way mind you about whether you know or not. Takes the fun out of it knowing in advance.

Yes, Blackburn Rovers, think he has played for England U21s too possibly. Spent last season on loan at some League 2 club, Rochdale or Bury, someone like that.

He's a Welsh Under 21 Goalkeeper, plays for Wrexham. With Hutch saying earlier this week he's looking for someone with potenial between 20-23, this rumour might have some legs.

I agree, you cant pre-judge him on somethin that someone else has said. Give the fella' a chance, then judge him.

I think that the older UTS posters will confirm that 10 games is the board's official "trial period".

Maxwell is under contract 'till the end of 2010/11 season at Wrexaham, and is aged 20 having been with them since he was 10 so we would have to pay a fee!
That's out of the question!

I was told last night that Jamie Cureton and whatshisface Doherty from Norwich are training with us.

I guess we need to numbers to be able to play 5 a side at our "fantastic" training complex.

With our lack of numbers surely it's time we stopped messing about and finally signed Player X and [Name Moderated]. We've been linked with these two for at least two years now and it's time we took the plunge.

It's not the best approach really. What happens if we spend this week trying to sort a deal with him, only for him to say, "nah, sorry im off to plymouth" or whereever!

I dont know why we should of offered him a trial, we know what he can do so decide on our knowledge on him.

To be honest, I dont think it's a trial. I think its more to do with us negotiating with his agent to get a contract sorted, in the meantime he trains with us.

Yeah could be, im just goin on what has been reported, where they have descirbed it as a trial.

I would of thought it we are negotiating, the deal would be gettin close to been completed, as it was reported that he was training with us on friday.

But it's not a trial because we're not in a position to turn him down, we're rather desperate.
