Re: Argentina vs Germany
The horrible thing is how hungry both teams look. I wish we had a team with that much hunger for the game.

Most of England's squad show far more interest in playing Premier league Football than International. You can see it in other national teams that they really want success, not expect it. Thats a big difference.

Kinda makes you wish you were German...
Good football team and a top league with rules to stop crap like what happens to ours. Terraces and cheap tickets too.

I dont think Argentina have looked hungry.
Germany have though, they're simply brilliant. It's scary to know how they'll be in 4 years when they've got more experience.

Re: Argentina vs Germany
I dismissed it at first, as a feeble excuse, but maybe there is something in this ball malarkey.
So many shots have been flying miles over the bar and there does seem to be a wobble on the ball when in flight, which I would assume makes controlling passes more difficult.
The Germans have been playing with the ball for 12 months and are thrashing everyone in sight. I don't think the ball is the only reason by any means, but is it contributing to their domination?

Re: Argentina vs Germany
It would have some effect wouldnt it surely? They are used to the ball sooner than the other teams.
It has to the worst ball ever though, it never goes straight for a start, its too light and makes goalkeepers looks stupid. One step in the wrong direction and you are screwed as the ball floats from right to left in the air.
I think the Germans are actually just the best in the world at Counter attacking. As one commentator said, they pass when you say "pass it", they cross when you say "cross it", and they shoot when you say "shoot!". Its slick, quick, and its incredily difficult to defend. I love the way they play, much better than the pass it around the back four for 7 hours style that a lot of teams play.

Re: Argentina vs Germany
Loads to like about this German team.
No "superstar" prima donnas. Young, hungry team. Likable manager. Great work ethic. Attractive, counter attacking football. I really hope they go on and win it.
Apparently, Joachim Low's coaching revolves around repeatedly drilling his team in set pieces and quick counter attacks until every player knows exactly what they have to do in almost every situation. He knows they're not the most skillful team at the WC but by God they're effective. Sounds like a blueprint for another European team who've lost their way to me.
