Yes it was never a sending off. FACT also i'd give their player a 6.5 for artistic ability.

I wonder what Hutch will do at half time - bring on a replacement centre back for a forward player and play 1 up top, or just bring Mattis back / Vincent inside and keep attacking players on.
May as well try option 2 and try to win the game, as we are now in mid table obscurity, as Jeff Stelling calls it!!

shocking sending off, never in a million years. One footed challenge, studs pointing down, his foot was no more than 3 inches off the floor and he won the ball cleanly.
Shame because its a good even game and the ref has surely now had an influence on the result. fudge muppet.

Yes the game has been decent. If only our shooting boots were working. Rene did a good brilliant stop one on one after what was a killer ball through the defence

great win with 10 men for half the game
things even up because i thought we played well down there and were unlucky to lose
think we can now consider ourselves safe from relegation so maybe time to get Grigg off the bench and try a couple other youngsters and start to think of next year

Today's team:
Gilmartin - 22
Vincent - 34, Hughes - 23, Taundry - 21, McDonald - 21
Gray - 30, O'Keefe - 21, Mattis - 28, Jones - 33
Nicholls - 22, Deeney - 21
Subs incl: Till - 24, Richards - 25, Grigg - 18, Smith - 21, Bradley - 22
I don't think we need any more youngsters, the team is inexperienced enough already.

Great game. My second of the season. Two wins for me. 3510 fairly entertained souls. Rene fully deserved his man of the match two great stops, one in each half with routine saves in between. Hutch made the changes at the right times I feel. After a few flat goal kicks out from Rene fully towards the end Troy laid it on with a decent pass to byfield who nearly made a mess of it. The sheer delight on the players faces when it went in was great. Deeney to do the team talk again. Special mention to nicolls who played well and was unlucky not to score in the 1st half.

Also this was my sons 1st game he has been to. Cost me 15 quid for a shirt for him and all I can say is that he is hooked. He is looking forward to next season as a mini Saddler.

They "accidently" showed it in the stadium suite just as the 2nd half started...

First time iv'e left the stadium this season genuinely happy
Rene and Williams both made superb saves ... Preferably Williams with that stop from Mattis' volley
Rene definatly deserved MOTM
So the red card ... Possibly one of the worst red card decisions I have ever seen. Absolutly terrible. If anyone who was at the game genuinely thought that was a red you should be ashamed of yourself ie The ref
Hutchings out!
UP THE SADDLERS!

We wernt great today by any means, Colchester are pants and play proper hoofball actually worse than us  , we deserved a win for that shocking sending off, weve got to appeal against it, we were the better team then, the ref gave Colchester everything, i personally thought Taundry & Rene were execellent today.

What a complete idiot the referee was today, in my eyes it was not even a yellow card. Ashley Vincent well done in getting a fellow professional sent off and you had the cheek to have a smirk on your face when getting up and walking to the touch line, again well done you donkey.
Well done to Aidy Boothroyd (who I hate) for making Ashley vincent go down the tunnel when being replaced,
At least Hutchings got his formation right at half time by playing a 4-3-2 after the sending off, one last thing JUSTICE was done when we scored and won.

I'm impressed! I didn't realise we were playing so many youngsters. If half of them really "come on" we have something to look forward to. 12 @ 25 and under out of 18!
I look forward to us getting another few points, then giving some more of them a good run out, irrespective of results (so long as we don't get stuffed and knock their confidence).
:D :D :D

Great win that. considering we played with only ten men for half the game and Colchester are play off contenders!
I will be very popular at work on Monday, having given Huddersfield a 'leg up' in the race for a play off place, with them
having won at the 'O's' place.
Well done the lads...

Moanin--- do you know my mate Glyn Johnson from Leckie he is the same age as you-- but he's a Dingle. And did you go to the "Locker" or "The New World" to drink your coffee?

played well today, got stuck in , they did a bit of ball watching at the back at times which nearly proved costly , but after some of the rubbish we have witnessed at home it was a pleasent change..!!!

Re: Colchester United (H) League 1 Saturday 20/3/10
Great win with 10 men. I think the goal was our only shot on target in the 2nd half.
I thought Colchester were pretty poor given their league position, but I was impressed by number 4 I think it was. Played at CB alongside Heath.
First half, I thought it was us on top but still pretty even.
Second half, as you'd expect it was all Colchester, but we were still comfortable. The saves Rene made were nearly all routine. There was the dissallowed goal for offside and them hitting the post. Then up pops Byfield on the counter to score the winner.
The ref was awful. Sent Hughes off for winning the ball. Yes the tackle was abit reckless, but he got the ball. Then he booked Taundry, who once again played the ball.
MOTM for me was Taundry. Fantastic from the barrell
Gilmartin - 7 - A few good saves but most were routine
Taundry - 9 - Fantastic from him, my MOTM
Mcdonald - 7 - Solid as per
Hughes - 7 - Was having a good game until the ref sent him off
Vincent - 7 - Solid as per
Gray - 6 - Was good in spells of the first half but went missing in the 2nd when switched to LB
Mattis -8 - Usual battling performance
O'Keefe - 7 - I thought he had a pretty good game
Jones - 6 - None existant
Deeney - 6 - Battled but was poor
Nicholls - 4 - Woeful
Richards - 7 - Average when he came on
Byfield - 7 - Didn't do a lot but quality goal
Peter Till - Unfair to rate him on 3 minutes of football

Sorry mate I dont agree about that Taundry challenge .... If he did touch the ball (which I dont think he did) then the ball carried on in the same direction and Taundry stopped a counter attack. had to be a yellow either way

I think you've been abit unfair on Jones mate, he generally had something to do with most our forward play, not his best game though i agree.

The funniest thing was when the Col U players surrounding the ref at the end for what they thought was a foul in the build up to our goal, justice was well and trueley done :D
