Colchester United (A) League 1 Saturday 24/10/09.
At look at the U's form guide last 6 league games.
Hartlepool - home - won 2-0
Tranmere - away - drew 1-1
Charlton - home - won 3-0
Huddersfield - home - won 1-0
Orient - away - won 1-0
Wycombe -away - drew 1-1.
An 8 game unbeaten run see out hosts sitting 4 in the table on 25 points from 13 games played
Full home record - played 6 - won 5- drew 0 - lost 1 - 11 goals for - 4 against .
Last league defeat 29/8/09 - Leeds at home 1-2.
we need to be at our very best for 90+ minutes to get anything out of this ,my prediction 1-1 each

Sadly, this is a no-hoper for me. 3-1 to the home side.

Colchester 1-1 Walsall
167 Saddlers to make the trip.
Asps and Big Baz 1 to do a dry run for Wycombe by driving round the ring road for two hours before the game, stopping at every pub they find. Dry run not so dry as Baz wets his trousers sprinting to the toilets on arrival.

Boothroyd seems to have got things running nicely at Colchester. I would expect a very tough game and would be surprised if we get anything out of it. If we can carry forward our confidence from Saturday we might scrape a draw.

Think we will lose to be honest, that's not a dig at us lot, but Colchester look real solid this year and they have some good players throughout their side for this level.
I'm still confused on where they get their money from though. Colchester have spent a lot on players over the last few years despite a ground move which must have ate up a lot of finance.

This will be the toughest game so far this season ... A team very much in form
We'll have to be at our best to scrape a draw
1-1
Jon-Joe O'Toole for them
Jones for us

I believe that the local Council owned Layer Road, sold that and paid for the new ground to be built. Colchester have to pay the council rent.
We had to spend £5.5 million to get ourselves into the same position!

They still get average crowds though. I know they got about 3 million for selling Halford and Cureton, but still, they spent 400k on Gillespie alone.
Wonder what their rent is like?

I think their rent is higher than hours from what I remember at the time, but they didn't need to lay out any cash themselves and their ground is to a much higher spec than the Bonks's.
I think they are also probably getting parachute payments from their two seasons in the Championship, if not this season then certainly last season.*
*Just checked this League One clubs get a one off payment if they are relegated from the Championship.

2-0 Col Utd.
Someone tries to re-enact my only visit to Colchester by having to keep in bucketloads of shite and sick all the way back to Bescot only to be sick inside the player's entrance.

Colchester Played 6 at home, Won 5 and lost 1.
Lost 1 of last 9 league games (against Leeds).
And people expect us to get something from the game?
You all must be living in a dream world, the lot of you.

if the claim of play off contenders is to be believed we should be looking to get a point from this one - reality bites so a 2-0 defeat beckons
