A sneaky late goal in a 2-1 win.
Ishy to make an impact late on, and Betsy to score that brave header thats been waiting.

From what I've seen and heard, they're not the same side in front of goal as they were when they had Brooker on loan.
My head says we'll draw this one, but the optimist in me doesn't want to admit defeat in our bid for the playoffs, so I'll go for a 1-0 win. Holmes to score direct from a free kick.

I saw on telytext last night that one of their strikers is due for an operation this week I cannot remember which one it is though.
I think that if we keep the same team as last week then we should have more than enough to win this game. I am thinking 3-1 to the saddlers.

Nah, 3-0 to us IMO. Mooney hat-Trick....... he's long overdue a goal or two and I think although he missed the penno on Saturday I think he was relieved we didn't get on his back and it was plainly obvious in the second half he was back to his 100% commitment for the cause.
No real need to say it for us away travellers as we always get behind the Saddlers...... just hope we can keep it going at home again like on Saturday ............ STARTING TONIGHT !!
COME ON THE BOYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just hope after all this "punching above our weight" we don't allow a club that 10 years ago won promotion to The Conference courtesy of Gresley Rovers ground inadequacies, to nut us in the shins and run off to its mam.
Still, if we do, I'm sure the "there are no easy games at this stage of the season" grout will be liberally applied.
Let's be positive, lets just go and dare to have a shot or two, and win 1-0 should one of them get deflected en-route to the corner flag.

All games are tough now! Teams fighting to get in the play offs or beat the drop. Cheltenham are not safe yet so need to win. There home record is very good. Our away record is quite good. So this is going to be a close one.

Fortunately it's now too late in the season for them to "deserve to be up there or thereabouts", so we stand a fighting chance. :D

Got a ticket at 0930 this morning, only circa 200 left and were selling fast.
We cannot get any more than the 1100 allowance - the reserve allowance has gone to home fans.
1090 Saddlers
5309 total
2-0 Walsall

Re: Cheltenham Town (A) League 1 Saturday 12/4/08.
Never been, so no pubguide but pinched from other websites.
There is a club bar at the ground called the Robins Nest which allows in small numbers of away fans for a small admittance fee. The closest pubs that I found to the ground were the Fox & Hounds & The Greyhound, but they both have more of a home feel about them. Away fans are probably better heading to the 'Sudeley Arms' or 'The Conservatory' on Prestbury Road on the outskirts of town. There is even a decent fish & chip shop situated in-between the two. To find these pubs, turn right out of the club car park, and then turn left at the end of the road. Go straight over the roundabout, and The Sudeley Arms is on your left and the Conservatory is further up on your right. It is no more than a ten minute walk from the ground.
Otherwise there is the Parklands Social Club, where you can also park your car (£4). Simply go down Whaddon Road, passing the ground and the bowling club on your left. Take the first left hand turn and the entrance to the social club car park is a short distance down on the left.
And...
Adam and Eve: Most useful for any fans travelling down the M5 from the North and entering Cheltenham off Junction 10 along the A4019. Small quiet terrace local with a bar and lounge, close by the Tesco store, run by the same landlady for close on three decades. Serious skittles venue. Arkell's beers. Doesn't do meals. Opening is 10.00 a.m - 2.00 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. - 11.00 p.m. weekdays, but all day from 10.00 a.m. - 11.00 p.m. on Saturdays.
Adam and Eve, 8 Townsend Street, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL51 9HD
close to the station...The Midland.

Re: Cheltenham Town (A) League 1 Saturday 12/4/08.
Quite rare that I do a new ground these days, so I'm looking forward to this one, especially as we appear to have soldout our end. A shame that we have contrived to make it all but a dead rubber otherwise we'd have kept the full allocation and we'd have had over 2,000 going for one of those memorable spring away-days.
Anyway, I reckon the trains will be on time, the taxi drivers courteous, the ale plentiful, our support great and we'll put our season out of its recent misery with a 2-0 defeat against an "up for it" Cheltenham side. I really hope I'm wrong (wouldn't be the first time!) and Leeds lose as well, just to ensure that next weeks arbitration actually means something and any decision is made knowing that there could well be a nasty consequence for another club.

New ground for me too, number 60 something, will have to do another count tonight. I have to get some of the new ones as I keep losing them as the various clubs move. Should be a good atmosphere with our allocatiojn sold out, hope the boys do us proud.

Re: Cheltenham Town (A) League 1 Saturday 12/4/08.
Just doing some calculations and it appears that it is actually super must win. A point is virtually as bad as a loss, it has no effect on the final set of circumstances that would need to occur in order for us to finish above leeds.
If we draw today, we need leeds to lose two and draw one of their remaining four games to give them 71 points.
If we drew today, we would then need to win the next four games to finish on 73 points.
If we lose today, we would need to win the next four games to finish on 72 points.
So as you can see, a draw is as bad as a loss.
If we win today however, and lets prey we do! we would have 63 points. We would need Leeds to lose 2 of their last four games, giving them a possible total of 73 points.
We would have to win all four games to give us a total of 75 points.
If they win one and draw one of their last four games they would finish on 71 points, we would then have to win 3 games, giving us 72 points.
We cannot finish level on points with Leeds however due to our inferior goal difference, so that is virtually an extra point.
So whatever way you look at it, we are reliant on Leeds dropping points but we would have to win all our last four games, whatever the result today.
