On the bright side Broadhurst:

Is not a drinking alcoholic

Does not have an out of control gambling addiction

Does not have a history of d******c v******e

Has FA coaching badges

Has experience of professional coaching

Has experience of management

Not my preferreed choice, but I'll give him my backing none the less as he, and we, need it.

Record;
Northampton P77 W26 D14 L37
Bristol Rovers P6 W3 D2 L1
Overall P83 W29 D16 L38, 1.24/game, 57pts/season.

A record worse than Ian Atkins overall.

Well Bonser, you had your chance to really unite the fans and players, to really put some excitement into the club. You took the cheap option... You've lost one season ticket holder already for next season but thats nowt to do with this appointment.

Fingers crossed.

Yeh Fair enough, i'm going to give him a chance, get behind him 100% but considering the names that were linked, this seems a real disappointment. BUT if he instills some discipline, gets the players fitter and actually playing to a proper style of football, then i'll be happy - it's just I would have preferred someone with a better reputation

Graydon was unknown as a manager.

Broadhurst isn't. He's done ok to save clubs then has failed miserably.

Sorry we needed someone to inspire the fans and put bums back on seats to help keep us up.

We truly have become a bottom division club once again.

agree again phil.

if he gets us well drilled and fit and organised he'll keep us up imo.

personally, I'm delighted that we've got a new manager and that we can now have a new start.

with a bit of luck he doesn't want Merson back as a player.

From the official site:

Jeff Bonser has made clear his hope that the appointment will be on-going. "Our arrangement is to the end of this season, and Kevan's brief is obviously to keep us in League One," he said. "If that objective is achieved, there is no doubt that Kevan will continue as manager for next season, and that is the only scenario I want to consider."

"He's done ok to save clubs then has failed miserably".

well maybe that's Bonser's plan.

maybe we'll have someone else at the helm for the kick off of next season in League One.

What a SHAMBLES this club is.
Please note that this manager also spent a fortune while at Northampton and still managed to do NOTHING.
A CHEAP option.
From a chairman who must GO.

Jesus. Walsall fans at their most optimistic, open-minded and enlightened. What is wrong with you lot? I'm not doing cartwheels of joy at this appointment either, but none of us know what Broadhurst said at his interview, what plans he has, how he will work out.

We criticised Bonser for being seduced by the cult of celebrity when he let Merson run riot for so long. When we thought he was going to appoint Platt, we criticised him for making the same mistake. Now he has appointed a not-at-all-big-name lower league manager with coaching badges, we... criticise him. What has the bloke got to do?

Yes, Broadhurst is worryingly obscure, but so was Ray Graydon. I'm not initially excited by this choice, but what I'm certainly not going to do is pre-judge and condemn. Bonser has avoided the cult of celebrity, and hasn't taken the obvious option of going back to Nicholl, Graydon or Hibbitt. So let's see how this pans out.
