walsall v bristol rovers at home in about 1984 i think. We lost two one, the one thing that i remember about that game is 2 drunk walsall fans running onto the pitch, running all the length of it and bowing to the rovers fans in ront of their goal. I know our goal was a penalty because it was a like a riot when we scored. Then again it was fellows park!

About 1974/5 i think
We won 6-0 and after that I was hooked
Same season (I think) we knocked Man U and Newcastle out of the FA cup. I stand to be correctd.
WS3 Was Brian Glough Brightons boss then
My First game early 60's in the old division 2 lost 1-5 to Chelsea
I seem to remember the Street end was uncoverd at the time

Apparently Cloughie left Brighton in July 1974.
I think my first game was in 1974/5 season which suggests that he had gone by then.

Cant remember first game but first match that sticks in memory was against either Sheff wed or Portsmouth.
We went one down but came back to win 5-1.
Anyone else remember this one?
The away fans managed to bend one of the crowd barriers in the end to the left of hilary street, and there were thousands of them as well.

Sounds like Sheff wednesday.did it rain all afternoon?76?77?Brian Caswell walked to the ground.I think their fans must have said something to him ,because he scored and went straight up to the away fans to celebrate

First Walsall Game
Not sure if it was the first match, but I can remember seeing Saddlers losing at home to Millwall .
The score was 6 - 5. Walsall had a diminutive keeper called Lewis in goal. I think it would
have been in the late forty's or early fifty's at Fellows Park. Happy days, big crowds, football was
fun then

Cant remember my first game, but some of the players were Mick 'Chopper' Evans, Bob Wesson, Frank Gregg and Tommy Watson.
I do remember us losing one nil to spurs at home, the day Jimmy Greaves did absolutly nothing all match then scored! Dave Wilson ran past 3 spurs defenders, past the goalkeeper and shot and Phil Beale sat on the ball on the line!
First away match was at Haig Avenue, Southport on boxing day - we lost 2-1 and Dave Wilson scored our goal.

Hello all first post.
I first went 1987/88 season (£2 to get in great) I was 9
memories pretty hazy from that season
I think it might have been brentford and we beat them 4-2 with David Kelly scoring
certainly remember going to the Bristol games when we won promition
also, I think I went to a game when we lost and the had to take penalites...i think it might have been the playoff first leg...didnt really understand what was going on
can some one please help me remember!!
David Kelly with his flowing blonde hair and tight shirt is an enduring memory though!!

The match you're talking about is the 1988 Play Off Final 2nd Leg.
Walsall unbelievably managed to capitulate from a 3-1 away leg victory to leave the aggregate score at 3-3 at the end.
The penalties were to decide the venue of the deciding (and I think unprecedented) 3rd leg (no Cardiff/Wembley in those day, they were two-leg finals).
I remember well the euphoria when David Kelly smashed the deciding penalty off the underside of the bar.

Andy Morrison? Jamie Pollock?
My first game was in 1986, I would have been 7 years old, it was a tuesday night at Fellows Park versus Aldershot. We won 2-0 and Ned Kelly scored 2. My memory is that of a lovely white kit and Kenny Mower running down the left. My dad sat me on top of the dugout-those were the days!

My first match as a "regular" came 4 days after I started work here at RAC Bescot.
9th September 1995 (I was 18yrs old).
Walsall 4 (2) - 1 (0) Swansea
Edwards ................. .. Palmer
Houghton
O'Connor
Wilson
Attendance: 3788

Saturday 13th November 1948
Walsall 5 6 Millwall
Walsall:- Lewis, Methley, Male, Walters, Foulkes, Newman, Aldred, Mullard, Chapman, Devlin, Condie.
Walsall Scorers:- Chapman (2), Male (2), Condie.
Attendance:- 9604
Several of that team retired to live locally and I met them in later years; Jack Lewis, Irvine Methley (he kept the chippie near where I live. Sadly, he died in August 2004) and Johnny Devlin (used to run the Littleton Street Youth Centre).
I didn't attend the above match (well, I was only 3 years old at the time!) and my first game was home v. Crystal Palace on March 12th 1955. We lost 1-4.

My first match was against Doncaster in 1969 and the game was unusual in that it was on a Friday night. What was not unusual was that we lost, 3-1, with Colin Harrison scoring for us from a penalty.
I had been to see the reserves before then - I remember Allan Clarke was playing just before he got transferred to Fulham, which must have been in 1966.
My last game will be v Oldham, 18/02/2006, unless JB pulls his finger out and gets us a decent manager!!

The first record of me attending a game was the first game of the 1987/88 season - Walsall v Fulham 1987 at Fellows Park as that was my first year with a season ticket.
Although I went to a couple of games from the season before, probably boxing day 1987 and possibly the last game of the 1986/87 season but i have no record or memory of what games they would have been.

Sounds like a pre season match against Middlesborough in about 1993.
Thanks for the added info Mark :?

April the something, 1954 - shopping in the Pleck with Grandma, and I hears this enormous cheering noise. "That's the football match" she says, and thrusting a threepenny bit into my hand she shoos me off along Hillary Street. I must have been 9 at the time, and we were playing Northampton Town.
Despite finishing bottom of the League that season (or as near as makes no difference) we actually beat Northampton 6-1 that day and, as someone has already said, "I was hooked".
I don't remember John Lewis in goal, but I do recall tha keeper's name that day against Northampton - it was Baldwin. Lewis was with us 1946-52, playing 271 games.
