Pointless Products

Tue May 22, 2018 3:12 pm

The marketing gurus make our life a misery by forcing us to watch adverts and buy stuff we dont want, but whats the most pointless product you can think of;
for me it has to be either decaf coffee or alchohol free beer!

England flags with 'ENGLAND' written across them. Completely defeats the object of designing a national flag if you write the name of the country across it!

Interesting train of thought there.

I'd say I don't drink coffee for stimulation and (about 80% of the time) I don't drink beer to get drunk. I drink them both because I like the taste. So I could see the why someone would want to capture the taste without the side effect of the key ingredient in either.

I stopped drinking full fat coffee because I was far too wired. Decaf coffee works a treat. Agree totally about alcohol free beer.

My missus bought a metal spike thing to put bog rolls on as a storage thing in the toilet. They stack perfectly fine anyway so what's the point?

She got a similar thing for the kitchen roll too despite it standing up fine unaided.

Less visits to the loo if you drink decaf

Which, if you have ever used the facilities in the tile choice, is a godsend.

I tried that "Decaf" cack once.
Got advised by my Dietitian to try it due to the amount of Coffee I drink (it was Coffee or Alcohol which wasn't doing my health any good).
Tastes and looks like curled up cack.
Back on full fat Coffee, which my Doctor is happy about as it keeps me calm.

Most pointless invention...................Alexa.
fudge know it all.

Most items in a betaware book, they always look like you can't do without them until you order it and after a couple of days it ends up in a drawer or cupboard for the next millenia :|

Dunno, I make an effective punch bag for your bitter and volatile personality to thrash upon. When it's not Manchester, Gabor, Exile, El N. or the raft of others that have caused you offence for daring to differ in opinion.

This is probably the one thing that most gets my goat
There isn’t another country in the world that allows this, you go to places like USA & turkey (and Ulster in July)where they fly the flag with pride. Could you imagine the uproar if they started to print the Sun and Sports Direct on their flags?

Do you think it is because it has been hijacked by racist entities over the years? and they put the ENGLAND in the middle as if to say "we are not being racist by displaying this banner"? i was amazed a few years ago while passing a hindu temple emblazoned with swastika symbols  i thought what morron has done that? then i worked at an indian woman's house and she had it on her doorstep, i felt that i had to say something apologetic along the lines of "we are not all like that love" to which she burst out laughing and said it was an indian iconic sign of luck long before the nazi's hijacked it  , in fact the Finnish air force used it on their airplanes for luck in the early 1900's :)

Do you remember the izal bog roll we used to have in schools in the 60's 70's? it was better used as tracing paper, it just used to skid right off wiping nothing at all

1. Christmas cards with "Wife", "Husband" etc on the front. The chances are the sender and recipient see each other every day - why not just tell them instead.

2. Birthday cards for kids up to age 3 - they don't know how to read.

3 Birthday cards for kids aged 4-18 -let's face it they only want the present.

4. Any card/book/ magazine aimed at Wolves fans (see 2 above).

Small garden tools with green handles.

What idiot invented these? Use them to dig out the weeds in your borders - put them down for a second and you can't find them again. Perfectly camouflaged, they get gathered up with all the weeds and you have to sift through the garden wheelie bin to retrieve them.

I followed a colleague (BMW driver) out of work a few years back. Next day I said to him "There's a problem with your car". When he enquired why I said "You drive a beemer and your indicators work"
