81 Saddlers apparently. Many a long year since we had so few at an away match (although it's a wonder there are any there at all) and it looks like their effort will be paid with defeat.

Looking on Sky, this game would never have gone ahead if was even 20% as bad as it is now....
Makes no sense a game like this going ahead, should have just been called off before anyone set out.
Never seen players with snow shovels clearing snow during a game before - if it wasn't so ridiculous it would be funny,

Another frustrating defeat by the sounds of it. First loss to Peterbrough since 2011.
Just get to 50-51 points and be done with this season.

A bad defeat in terrible conditions. We played well at times according to WM and created some very good chances. We have just had too many of these sort of games....the time for a managerial change gets nearer.

Looked like an entertaining game. Shame we couldn’t come back with points! Onwards in hopefully better conditions!!

Agreed . It's not sour grapes because we could have lost whenever it got played, but I wonder how those conditions were better than they would have been in Shrewsbury or Bristol had they played there. The criteria for postponement never seem consistently applied.

But not near enough, Walsallone. We are in the same pattern over and over, a few decent results followed by a run of defeats. We may scrape over the line, we may not...

Sounds bloody awful, 81 poor bastards watching that.
Made worse by the news that Joe Edwards is out for the remainder of the season with an ACL injury. Saw Jason McCarthy put something about him making a speedy recovery on social media last night but now it has been confirmed...

All this wittering on about the conditions - as long as the pitch ain’t frozen, then I’ve got no problem with it.
And contrary to what funk says, I remember a good few occasions down the years when players have been used to clear the lines during a match, maybe not in walsall games, but certainly others
The ones I feel sorry for are the ones who have to travel back in that weather on what passes for gritted roads in this country.
As for the result, nothing new. As Kevlar says, we really should know better than to score first. Idiots.

That has got to be one of the worst conditions i have ever seen a game played in? someone needs to be bought to task for allowing that to be played or to continue :|

I know you nothing about football Phil, its proved time and again, but you cannot play football on 2 inches of snow.
WM said they have never seen a game played in such conditions and the sun have featured a story about the players moving snow - but once again, you know better....

How on Earth this game haven't been cancelled? 'Twas no footy game, rather fighting against adverse weather conditions. There were some positives, but soon all disappeared under that snow blanket.

Re: Peterborough United (A) Tue 27th Feb, 7.45pm
That was comfortably the coldest I’ve ever been at a football match. First 30 minutes we were well worth the 1-0 lead, but we were so sloppy in possession it was inevitable that Peterborough would get plenty of chances.
The penalty came from Morris cheaply losing possession, Devlin gave the first away and Oztumer was at fault for their winner.
Don’t think we’ll go down, but with the news of Edwards’ injury we desperately need to revert to system that doesn’t employ wingers as Kouyhar and Morris simply won’t cut it. 5-3-2/5-4-1 has surely got to be the way to go.

It was fine for the first 70 minutes. After then it became a bit more tricky, but as soon as there was the enforced stoppage the snow virtually stopped and the lines were clear so there was no reason to call it off.

Agree - never seen anything like it.
No excuse for our blokes hanging around like snowmen for their second though.

Re: Peterborough United (A) Tue 27th Feb, 7.45pm
It was cold. (Bloody COLD)
And it snowed. (A LOT). There were times when I couldn't see the players on the other side of the pitch because of the snow.
Devlin's backpass was awful and gave Roberts no chance.
Roberts made a good save from a poorly taken pen.
Oz is not the player he was.
Ngoy rounded the keeper very well and scored for our goal.
I would have been well pissed off if the ref had called it off and we were winning.

Re: Peterborough United (A) Tue 27th Feb, 7.45pm
Of the last six fixtures:
Four acceptable results in two wins and two draws
Second half vs Blackburn seemingly we out played them (A game we would lost 9/10 times regardless of who is at the helm) They have a striker whose weekly wage eclipses our starting 11's combined in 30k a week Graham we simply can not compete yet we did for half of the match.
Lead away at Posh last night only for individual errors to cost us - He set the team up in an attacking manner due to Posh's latest form, i would say that was the correct thing to do.
Are we really at the point that of those 6 results we are dissecting them in a way that proportions blame on the manager? If so - Last 6 games show an upturn in form and performance unfortunately for most.
Of course it is all about points on the board but as others have said lets reach the 51-52 point mark and forget about this season, hoping that if we change manager for next year (We will probably not) we have blooded some youngsters into League 1 players.

Having seen those pictures it is clear the match should have been abandoned....in over 50 years of watching Walsall they are the worst I have come across and I remember some bad 'uns in the sixties and seventies. However as SADDLA says above having started the game the referee really had no choice once Peterborough took the lead.If it had been 1-1 I think he would have called it off. I notice the highlights don't show the incident where Dobson was booked for diving when from all accounts a penalty should have been awarded !!!!
