It does amaze me the stick Morris gets.
During 14/15 he was a valuable young member of the squad, quick, agile, with a great shot. He’s a genuine talent - a player with a good engine and an eye for goal.
Now, we have an idiot of a manager in charge, and an awful coaching setup, AND he’s being played out of position in a team that can’t keep the effing ball and the geniuses on here are writing him off calling on the club to get rid of the lad.
The same geniuses who last season thought Makris was a decent player - you couldn’t make it up.
One player shows his talent over a number of years, scores goals, takes on players and makes runs, is branded useless, then a lad who couldn’t trap a bag of cement, slower than a milk float and weaker than a mouse, and he’s branded as a prospect.

The board need to act swiftly, he's lost the fans and it's hard to come back from that. For all the comparisons with Smiths winless runs I can't remember him losing the fans like this, i.e. at games. Dragging it out isn't good for the club or for Whitney.
I'd be happy for Viveash to have the managers post, but it may depend on the tipping point of finances to pay Whitney off.

Whitney needs to go now, after that Muppet circus today. But I fear the board will not act until we fall deep in the relegation zone :(

Re: Blackpool (H) League One 14th Oct, 3pm
It's all very worrying and I am a total optimist. The thought of people losing their jobs is really awful. However, this is football and a different employment scenario. This is Jon Witney's team. He has a limited budget. But I am afraid some signings, selections and tactics appear to me indefensible. I am no expert, just a fan who wants the best we can do. Within the parameters of reasonblenes we are underperforming and I am afraid the buck stops with the man in charge of the team. Messrs Leahy and Devlin are honest triers but are well short of league one quality. They are not alone. Morris is not good enough. Edwards is limited. There is a general failure to do the basics properly e.g. control the ball, compete for the second ball, play "go forward " football etc. I am appalled that the repetition of booting the ball aimlessly forward - it is so obviously a lost cause. I am very sorry to say that P45's are in the offing. After all, football is about entertainment and it's not happening. Finally, I believe we have a handful of good players but not the wherewithal to maximise there ability. I write all this with a heavy heart because I think John Whitney is a very decent man who has given his all. Sadly, it's not suited to what's needed. UTS.

Agree with a lot of that.
He isn't a central midfielder. We had three central midfielders on the bench today so one can only conclude that Chambers wasn't fit and We still think Flanagan and Kinsella aren't ready or aren't good enough. If all of that is the case then Chambers shouldn't have been on the bench and Kinsella and Flanagan shouldn't be at the club (even if that means them being on loan).
Morris did well in the Charlton game because he was on the wing. We're destroying him by asking him to be a central midfielder especially as Ozzy plays at the forward tip of that midfield.
I can only assume that Ismail was injured because I have yet to see Khouyar have a meaningful moment in about three hours I've seen him play. Tyler Roberts is our best forward so why the other pair got the nod is a mystery.
Simeon Jackson is reportedly the highest paid player at the club and Flo can't be far behind. Where are they? Injured, dropped, resting, Arizona rehab?
We can't keep a clean sheet for love nor money and were lucky to only concede one today and yet Matt Preston and Jimmy O'Connor have been forced out of the club.
Shambolic.

Re: Blackpool (H) League One 14th Oct, 3pm
Today's performance was clearly not acceptable. The trouble is we have so many players who are not good enough technically to play at this level.Only Ozzie and Wilson might survive at a higher level. One of them is not our player while the other needs to be more of a team player. We all know he can score amazing goals but sometimes he needs to use team mates who are in better positions.
Whitney has signed most of these players who are div2 at best.He has given contracts to players who have not played for weeks.Jackson who is probably our highest earner and Cuvellier. He has fallen out with a number of now ex players presumably because they had the nerve to question his management style.
He appears to have destroyed the confidence of Bakayoko and Morris and I am not sure we have coaches who are capable of helping them develope their game.
Today he benched Tyler Roberts who by any normal judgements would in my opinion be the first name on the sheet of the three central attacking options. He should have changed it far earlier today as for whatever reasons the other two were not at the races. This would however have meant admitting he made the wrong selection and JW does not admit in public he is wrong.
If Chambers was fit he should have started as a specialist midfielder instead of Morris.
The wing back system is not working because neither of them is good enough to play the role effectively. As a result the opposition have loads of attacking room out wide and neither of them gets forward with any real menace-they end up in some sort of half way position.
Whitney I have been very patient but today you lost several hundred in the crowd and you lost me!

Gillespie - Proper gash. He reminds me of Richard Mckinney.
Devlin - Meh
Guthrie - Meh
Roberts - Meh
Wilson - Meh
Leahy - gash
Morris - will end up at Stourbridge, absolute mince
Edwards - was trying to do about 3 other peoples jobs, so he was gash
Oztumer - Scored a wonderful free kick then proceeded to be gash. People will say "at least he was trying to create" but he was crap with the rest of them.
Agyei - Not as gash as Bakayoko but he was dire today. He could have took either off but it was funny how the fans switched.
Bakayoko - Gash, carthorse, not interested.
Roberts - Came on, not enough service to judge, still did more that Agyei and Bakayoko combined.
Whitney - Gash- His post match comments were extra special garbage today. The dissallowed goal has given him an excuse, hes a fudge knob. clapping the fans at the end as they sung Whitney Out.
Blackpool were complete tat, all they did was loop it long and they were in every time due to our defence being compete bilge. They scored because Gillespies wrists are made from butter.
... what? Literally kept us in the game with two great saves. I’m baffled that he gets zero praise and nothing but criticism. They scored because they constantly beat on our door. Should have scored way before they did.
I’ve literally no idea what you are talking about. Some people will flat out refuse to give credit where it’s due once they’ve made their mind up. Their forward must have been playing deep for our keeper to throw it 70 yards to him.

Some of them do look tat I agree but I won't judge any of them while Whitney's in charge. I remember all the players who we knew were good suddenly looked completely useless when Merson was manager. What I saw today was one team which was well-drilled, attempting to play decent football, but lacking a cutting edge to make their dominance pay. And then there was us, aimlessly hoofing it up the pitch at every opportunity. I bet if you swapped the two managers around, our players would have beaten their players quite comfortably.

Mistake was giving Jackson a two year deal. He'd have been out of the door with Moussa if given twelve months.
With those decisions some you win and some you lose. Remember the criticism only giving Brandy a 1 year deal got.
No idea what's happened with Flo. Yes it could be his fitness but bizarre if he's match fit but can't make the 18,

Yes, a fantastic free kick from Ozzie.
Their goal went through three defenders as well as Gillespie.

Spot in - in general our players are good enough to compete at this level - one exception being Morris IMO but we have no core system....
Reluctantly I'd admit that Hoof ball is OK if it gets you wins in tight games some of the time but it seems we have no clue what to do or how to try to do it - professional footballers generally don't make it to L1 level if they can't adapt but if there's no effective plan to adapt to then you can't really blame them can you???
Sorry but for me the time is up on JW - we need a change...

Re: Blackpool (H) League One 14th Oct, 3pm
I think yesterday just goes to show how a referee's bad decision's can potentiality get a manager his P45.
I have no idea why Guthrie's goal was disallowed. Referee gave it originally then something happened to change his mind. The second bad decision was when Bakayoko was pushed with both hands by Tilt in the penalty area. They were both chasing the ball, shoulder to shoulder, and Bakayoko was getting the better of him. Tilt resorted to a blatant two-handed push that sent Baka over.
Could have been 3 -2 with the victory filed under the category of 'papering over the cracks'. Because of these decisions it is now a 'Whitney must go' score draw.

RUBBISH.
3-2?! REALLY?!
Apart from the free kick and the disallowed goal we had absolutely NOTHING going forward.
Blackpool missed at least 4 sitters (3 headers and the 1 on 1. May even be more) and were in control.
You are delusional to blame the ref.

Having not seen it back I thought the goal was fine and it was a clear push. The ref is not to blame for not winning the game though, that is what is delusional.
As I said, you have completely ignored Blackpool CLEAR chances from open play.
Also don't forget the tackle from which we won the free kick. Blackpool fans certain it wasn't a foul and they were in a better position to judge than you and I.

Sounds like a Blackpool fans viewpoint. We would’ve been chuckling about winning - not saying “I’m so sorry we won that it was criminal.”

I'd have been happy with the win but I'm not deluded enough to completely ignore the fact it was another very poor performance. No way did we deserve to win that game.

What was criminal was the referee disallowing a perfectly good goal. Whether we deserved to win is another matter. Sometimes you play badly and win and sometimes you play well and lose! As a Walsall fan I am disappointed with the decision . I am sure that view is shared by most of us.

Guthrie did nothing wrong at all.
I can only think it was Baka blocking the keeper off that the ref called for as there's f all else to penalise.

Yes I'm disappointed. But so were Blackpool fans with the reward of the free kick that led to Oztumers goal. Ifs, ands and buts. At the end of the day it was a shite performance AGAIN.
