Great win.
Another goal for that bloke who's alright but totally doesn't fit into our system, especially away.
To address a couple of things, Morris and Zeli didn't play up front they played on each wing either side of Ozzie with Roberts upfront. Now who was it who suggested that system on here? Especially away because we look better defensively with 4 at the back.
Don't know where those "stats" came from either but we were the better team for large parts. Just shows they don't always tell the full story.

Yeeeessssss!
Some thought that today's star and planet alignment signalled the end of the world.
It was actually signalling a Walsall away win.
Revelations.

Nonsense, clearly the result of the alignment of planet Jupiter with Neptune.
Why didn't we win 5-1 like Rotherham? Disgusting.

Fantastic win :D listened to it on ifollow and it sounded like we should have been 3 up at half time, but we did what we are renowned for and made it a little nervy for the last 10 mins. But we have won an away game for the first time in yonks, i wonder how much of it was oxford thinking they had already won it before kick off? and how much was it that we just completely outplayed and out thought them?

Brilliant! Should have beaten Brizzle Rvrs, then look where we'd have bin! (Some people are never satisfied).
Actually, very satisfied today. Sounds like a very good win - and youngsters contributing a lot. And has JW hit on a winning formula? Who cares (for the moment). Great win :D
BTW - can anyone explain Shrewsbury to me???? :? (I'm still smarting from that away defeat a few years ago when we absolutely battered them :( and still lost)

Not really a gambler but what odds would I get for Walsall conceding a penalty away from home
Ismail, ozthumer and Roberts the non footballing Hoofball forward line
I love this white kit
Good team selection credit the management

BTW. only ONE foul all game? Surely the BBC have it wrong? Otherwise, what's happened to our newly found "steel"? :?

Has Whitney turned a corner?
Sitting in the sunshine with a bottle of fizz near the Umbrian town of Bastardo seems very appropriate tonight.
Well done the dirty Bastardos.

It does seem rather clever of us to concede a penalty yet still not commit any fouls.

Apparently, we committed no fouls, but still gave away a penalty...

Perhaps Scott is the BBC 's new statistician and he thinks the Oxford player dived so therefore it doesn't count.

Great result. Hopefully much needed confidence will be gained from this.
Just seen the goals - can't have much complaint about the penalty award from first viewing. Rash challenge again.
Very good finish from Roberts though.

Re: Oxford United (A) Sept 23rd, 3pm
A great effort from the whole team today.
Well deserved win. Whoever writes the stats can't have been at the same game that I was.
We should have gone in 3-0 up at half time. Oz was guilty of missing a couple of simple chances.
Second half I was dreading the turn around but we carried on as before and Oxford had no answer to us as Roberts added a second.
It got a bit nervy after they got their pen and they really pressurised us but we held firm.
One lesson to be learned from today's game if we didn't know it already is that AM knows FA about football. Even his beloved Wigan got beat by Posh (who he was claiming we should have beat easliy at home)

Me too, looks a little 'trial and error' lightweight up front, however, you never know, lets hope your prediction IS right after all, it's already 2 minutes after 3 and we aye losin!!!!
25 minutes gone and Oxford have 78% possession!!!!!!! Morris hits a shot that goes high and wide, now that's unusual!
Is there anybody out there? Or has everyone written off the season and gone out shopping with the missus?
I'd love to know where AM gets his stats from...Molineux?!
I checked at half time and possession was 48-54 in Walsall's favour and they had 5 shots on target to Oxford's 2. I did actually think even AM couldn't twist that to "them all over us like a rash"
Great 3 points anyway especially to get the away form monkey off the backs. Oxford have got a tidy manager and team this year so sounds promising to go down there and play well.

Very good finish from Roberts though.
From the little I've seen Tyler Roberts is a class above at this level. Frustrating after his great cameo against Bradford he then missed two weeks on international duty and wasn't given a start at Bristol.
Him and Ozzy are top quality players in the final third at this level so going to be more exciting going forward than last season I reckon.

Lets hope we can paper over a few more cracks on Tuesday and find ourselves on the fringes of the play offs.

I'd settle for us continuing the win one, draw one, lose one start for these next three tough games.
One of the good things about today is the Charlton won't quite know how we'll line up and in what formation on Tuesday.

In fairness to AM the 78/22% possession was on the official site and on the BBC. By HT our possession was 45%, and increased after that.
Obviously, these stats and the live text can give a completely different picture. Here's our first goal, for example:
"Goal! Oxford United 0, Walsall 1. Erhun Oztumer (Walsall) from a free kick with a right footed shot to the centre of the goal."
Now compare that to the video above.
