Great to see us digging in and 'winning ugly' something we have seen many a team do to us at our place over the years.
Shame Makris hit the bar, a feat he also managed at chesterfield.. atleast he's getting closer :)

From the Molineux mix.
Absolute joke of a performance against one of the worst sides I have ever seen at Molineux

Cracking result. Well done to the team!! Last ten games: WDWWWLDWDL. 2 Defeats in 10, well done Whitney, hopefully those few that were calling for his head back when we lost to TOP OF THE TABLE Scunthorpe have got a grip now.
Up the Saddlers!

Come on me babbies, get 4! Cus how many times in recent years have they knocked 4 past us at home?
Not many.

Had some funny games with The Robins over the last couple of seasons. Some drubbings either way, and then a draw at their place last term. Hopefully they will be over confident from their win in the week, and we can make the most of any complacency. Be interesting to see who starts up top for us, real shame Baka got the red. Predicting another score draw.
Sorry to be pedantic, but we lost at their place 2-1 last season. I was there with chestersaddler - mind you, if you left in the 89th minute with the score at 1-1........
On the Bakayoko front I understood that it would only be a one game ban (2 yellows rather than a straight red) so he would only miss the Gillingham match. Perhaps I'm mistaken in that assumption...... :?
You could say that undeserved last-minute defeat cost us promotion. I actually said at the time that it could cost us promotion! All season, as we see-sawed between Auto and Playoffs, I kept harking back to that game in my mind for some reason .(The reason was, we should have won it comfortably).
OK, I know you could make the same claim about ANY dropped point of the season but that one got under my skin...
Great win today :D and whoever was responsible for getting Ozzy to sign for us is a genius :D .
Well done, the lads. :D

SWS1...when Ozzy signed JW said the talks had been going on for weeks.....even before the end of last season. He also said(not verbatim) that he had replaced the best No.10 in the division with the best No.10 in the division!!!! I must admit I took it with a "pinch of salt" at the time but so far he has been outstanding ...easily our best outfield player.

A good win away from home and a clean sheet both rare things this season.
Maybe Whitney is learning and proving people wrong at last, hope so he is a great guy to have at club and I am one who thought he needed help until he got more experience.
After his great start to season get ozzy on longer contract like Morris and we can better fee when he goes to Sheff Utd like others before him.
As I have thought our defence has been very poor so far well done for clean sheet.

Cracking performance, tactics were spot on and so was the selection. A very good away result, but it really should have been more too, happy days.

Yeah I do, he really had the energy and the work ethic to keep pressing their back 4 and stop them from playing it out from the back. We defended from the front thanks to Makris and Oztumer's running and pressing which stifled Swindon and forced them into either lumping it to our centre halves or being sent through into the path of Chambers and Edwards. Bakayoko brings more of a presence, has better link up play and scores more goals but I don't think he has the engine or the pace to do what Makris did today, at least not to the same quality anyway.

Re: Swindon Town (A) League One, 22nd Oct 3pm
Wonderful stuff today...most comfortable away win I've seen since....well actually can't remember when I last saw an away win.
Key is balance and experience....all over the pitch.
Early this season we had a CB combo of Preston and McCarthy in one game and also had a CM combo of Dobson and Kinsella at Chesterfield.
Now you have an experienced head next to a young 'in like J O'C with Toner and things look so much better. Same with the full backs, McCarthy at RB balanced with Laird.....Scunny's 37th choice LB but a very clever addition.
I also like Edwards in midfield...you can see why he was a good player for Yeovil in that position. Passing isn't too bad and he can press and do Chambers running.
One more thing Ancient Moaner could yet get something right. The attack is really starting to gel now. Ozzy conducting things but Moussa looks a real threat now as his reputation suggested....hopefully Jackson will be back soon to give a bit more end product upfront as much as Markis tried today (and he was a bit unlucky with the 2 yard miss).
As I said last season I'm unsure why so many people are still having a downer on this season. Yes the start wasn't great but Whitney is turning things now...20 points after 14 represents a very comfortably 60 + point season and it's clear things can still improve.

Isn't it more fact that the players are getting more used to each other, and there is now a more settled team?Same back 4 in the last 4 games has to have an effect on the stability of the whole team.
There is still lots to do, but we are definitely getting better.

For all our pretty football, it seems both goals were effectively scored from around the half-way line
Mind you, they can be scored from the stand as far as I'm concerned

A great win and two super goals, which has gone some way to easing the pain of the ridiculous defeat there last season (one of the most one-sided matches I've ever seen in my life).

Re: Swindon Town (A) League One, 22nd Oct 3pm
Looking at those two goals.....some people might dismiss the first one as merely a hopeful lob from distance, but Oztumer was only able to get the ball because he anticipated what the Swindon player was going to do. Their throw-in must have gone backwards (for them) by about 15 yards before being played along the floor along the touchline (forward this time). At that moment Oztumer started his run because he banked on an infield pass being made. It was, he intercepted it at the same time as noting that Vigoroux was off his line. Absolutely brilliant.
The second goal, what can you say? We've had so many people on here saying "we don't want hoofball", but I tell you what - if hoofball can be linked to the Oztumer level of skill that he displayed in volleying that one in, I'll take hoofball any day. That lofted pass from (Toner?) must have been all of 45 yards, and yet Oztumer timed his run so perfectly as to meet the ball coming over his shoulder and gently volley it past the keeper. I remember seeing Trevor Francis do the same thing years ago when he was at his peak, but Oztumer's was on the end of a much longer supply ball.
One thing is for certain....tippy-tappy sideways/backwards/sideways tippy-tappy football never produced a goal like that! :D
