Wasn't Graydon sacked and Lee installed almost immediately?
It sounds like a replacement has been found. Either way if he's sacked Merson won't be there on Saturday. He's not the sort to keep up pretences. Not when the pub is open.

Something like this was mentioned earlier on. That the deal for merson to leave may have been done, but to save face, it will be done in the manner of merson resigning after saturday's match.
It sounds like it could be something like this. We wouldn't have had the Bonser quotes today if he was going to sack him today. There must be some sort of agreement with Merson to leave, and a replacement is being sought.

See KJC's response just 2 or 3 posts above.
I did Sam,the difference is that JB dd'nt make a statement b4 hand backing Lee and praising hm for the work he had put into the club.

i can swear on what i heard, mersons associate saying to him, "jeff said he's getting the new guy in" or something along those lines. at which point it got dodgy as a few "big" guys came outside to almost form a ring around him.
i waited for pedro and wfc 4eva to turn up then left, mostly because i forgot my money and was starting to look dodgy!

True.
On the other hand though, as we were lead to believe, Bonsor fairly publicly said Lee could talk to Plymouth.... you know the rest.

Pedro has only lived in Stonnall his entire life, but he probably went to the wrong pub, knowing him...
