Can't do any worse than what's gone on so far !!
We've just had our first shot on target......in the 70th minute !!! ... closely followed by our first yellow card....
Somewhat pathetic anti climax after what should have been a possible celebration of going into second place, instead we all dream of an equaliser!!! As someone above said...utter dross, against the worst team in the league, we don't deserve promotion after a display like this.

At least the 2nd half can't be as bad.
It's not that bad.

Get the f*ck in!!!!
The atmosphere and mayhem in the upper when the 2nd goal went in was up there with the Preston JPT game last season.

And FHTF I was there on Tuesday night still cheering 'em on when the ref played what seemed like an extra half hour of extra time, when Fleetwood hit us with everything they had, luckily we had Etheridge.

Shades of Claude Gnapka against Sheffield Wendy....... :D :D
And I'm so glad I didn't cash out my bets when the exchanges were offering minuscule amounts towards the end of the game!!

The kind of results promotions are made of.

Football is a game of fine margin. I'm sure you have been following the game long enough to know that?
Just be happy we have won both games and this football club is still in with an unlikely chance of promotion to the second tier of English football!

Result aside - those players need to look long and hard at that performance. Colchester, despite serious limitations, wanted it more, fought harder, attacked with more vigour than we did.
If they want promotion then they're going to have to grow a pair of bo11ocks and start performing in home games.
A few points:
- I dont think Henry on the left wing at home works. Put him at left back with Lalkovic ahead of him.
- Sawyers was quite frankly awful today. Not sure if he was carrying an injury but he backed out of several challenges, and that is inexcusable. For a player of his talent, he doesn't half have some alarming drops in form. As a friend of mine said, he's our greatest strength and our greatest weakness.
Bradshaw didn't have a sniff all afternoon, yet took his chance excellently. Hiwula didn't offer much, he likes to cut inside, and decided not to release the ball to Bradshaw a few times when he really should have done.

Re: Colchester United (H) March 19th, 3pm
No idea how we got 3 points out of that but sooooo relieved - amazing!!!!
For 88 minutes (and everyone must agree) we were dog awful and with a few minor exceptions, had a very lacklustre appearance all over the pitch...
I'm worried about our experienced duo if Chambo and O'Connor both being crocked so hopefully the extended break will help us there...
Unbelievable feeling when that second goal went in...
The U's will be wondering what happened to them in the last 5 minutes as we finally realised that you need to attack to score!!!
Downing needs some coaching help to get his distribution sorted out as he simply gave every ball away today..
I'll take the 3 points but work to be done if we are going to worry Wigan...

I agree with you on those points Phil and in all fairness Sawyers has been like that all season - when he isn't interested it's just so bloody obvious.. He dies back away from challenges and these silly little flicks that he does really annoy me..
Jordi looked a bit out of sorts today too..
In general we didn't look like a team seeking promotion - that's for sure.. I think messers WCW need to make sure this group gets the hunger back and doesn't grow complacent - they were significantly second best everywhere on the pitch today and we all know we've got out if jail today really

Many were leaving on 80 mins. Never understood why people leave early. Especially with only one goal on it. Their loss.hullsaddler wrote:Had many people left before the 89th minute?
I'd be gutted as a Col U fan. They were up for it all game and I've many poorer sides at the Bescot this season. Their No. 11 particularly stood out.
What a finale though! UTS

Football is unfair sometimes and if your a Colchester fan you will be gutted.
We were pretty appalling for most of the game, and playing against 14 men if you include the amazingly dreadful officials. Where do they find them from? The linesman was basically guessing.
Matt Preston is actually pretty good upfront, way better than he is in defence. Won the header to slip Bradshaw in (who finished brilliantly) and absolutely smoshed the fudge in the back of the net in the scramble for the winner. If that had been Sawyers he would have backed out of it.
Make no bones about it, we completely ale house balled them in the end but thats why they are bottom, they were piss weak. But they missed an open goal from 1 yard just after we equalised. How the bloke missed i havent a clue but i wouldn't be surprised if he had money on Walsall.
Wonderful to see the stands full today too. I see everyone in the family stand stayed till the end and enjoyed it. Shame about the boring old farts who left on 80 minutes. Chasing promotion and leaving early. You've mugged yourselves off really.
Most of the game can be summed up in one moment. Lalkovic was clean through on goal and he turned backwards and passed it.
