Brighton & Hove Albion (H) Capital One Cup, Tues 25th 7.45pm
We welcome Chris Hughton's Seagulls for this 2nd round tie in the League Cup. They're in the 2nd round by virtue of a 90th minute winner at Southend from Kazenga Lua Lua, and as far as their League form goes they have almost identical form to ourselves - Played 4, Won 3, Drawn 1, the only difference being in the goal tally (5-2 against our 7-3). Lua Lua has scored 3 of Brighton's 5 League goals, so is obviously to be closely monitored if a full-strength side is on display. Hughton may use this game in order to give veteran striker Bobby Zamora some playing time for the first time since signing earlier this month. Brighton's results:
7 Aug Nottingham Forest (H) Championship, Won 1-0
11 Aug Southend United (A) Capital One Cup, Won 0-1
15 Aug Fulham (A) Championship, Won 1-2
18 Aug Huddersfield Town (A) Championship, Drew 1-1
22 Aug Blackburn Rovers (H) Championship, Won 1-0
It would be advisable if we were on full alert from the kick-off, bearing in mind that Brighton scored after 17 seconds  in that draw at Huddersfield........
Dean Smith doesn't seem to have any team selection problems, other than "who do I leave out?". His tactics of chopping and changing the squad for successive games seem to go against the mantra of "never change a winning side", but his formula does continue to show results. We've scored 7 League One goals thus far (it took until the end of September last season to get there), and it took until the end of October to pass the 10 point mark already achieved this season. Heady days indeed !!
Prediction? Chris Hughton has obviously put some backbone into this Brighton team and after their flirtation with the relegation zone last year they're now riding high, but 4 yellow cards in last Saturday's home game indicates that we might have something of a physical battle on our hands. I will keep predicting a 1-1 scoreline because every time I've done that this season we have run out worthy winners - let's say it is Romaine Sawyers' turn to get on the scoresheet.

My prediction is that despite an amazing start to the season the Walsall public will not turn up to support the team on Tuesday evening. I have my ticket and I'll be there. I hope I get proved wrong but I doubt it. :(

Interesting they are playing Ipswich on Saturday who are the team above them in the league so I'm pretty sure they won't be playing many first team players as they wouldn't want to risk anyone getting injured so we should cruise through to the 3rd round! :D :D :D
2-0 Walsall

In the away end for this.
I assume that given the spirit of this experiment we'll all be able to sit/stand wherever we want?
2-1 win in front of 3,560 (425 from Brighton or Hove)

2 -1 to us.
Morris / Sawyers with ours.
Zamora (if he plays) to be kept firmly in Downings back pocket.. there's a chance i could be getting carried away

Will a cup run spoil our chances of automatic promotion?

What's a cup run?
And what is this strange phrase "automatic promotion" of which you speak?

I cant see there being 3000 fans there in all honesty
either way, if Brighton rest a few I can see us sneaking it 1-0
on a side note, our side is much improved on the team that played at this stage last seaon
01 O'Donnell - big loss but replaced
22 Kinsella - potential but is he a full back?
03 Taylor
26 B Clifford - now at Boreham Wood
05 Holden - shouldn't of been anywhere near the first team last seaosn
06 Downing
24 Grimes - Now at Barrow
07 Chambers
09 Bradshaw - Still S@xual
27 Forde
10 Sawyers - much improved this season

Re: Brighton & Hove Albion (H) Capital One Cup, Tues 25th 7.
I think less than 3,000 there also. Most of the regulars I go with aren't going, which is unusual. With all the games in the last few weeks they should have made this £5 and £1 for kids (and the same prices for season ticket holders of other clubs to get them on our database). It's not about making money for games like this, it should be used as a bonus to attract new fans to see our new exciting brand of football, and hope they come to more league games and pay full whack for those.
They've been winning/scraping games 1-0, and we're creating lots of chances and scoring goals, so if we can get in front I fancy us. 2-1 seems to be our favourite scoreline right now, so I'll go with that. Sawyers and Morris.
Zamora isn't playing apparently.

This result hinges on one player as per the Forest result. In that case, it was Antonio and Luckily he didn't play the entire game. This time it's Kazenga LuaLua.
If LuaLua plays, my bets on them.
If LuaLua is late sub/doesn't play then it could be a different story.

Away stand then fella. The lower Gilbert doesn't offer much shelter from the rain. Well Block 6 certainly doesn't.

Yeah was thinking that I'm used to sitting upper in "shelter" , the away end should be a fun change. Any idea what time the ticket office is open before the game?

Should be open now fella. Think it's 5.30 on match nights. Was kinda hoping to pay on the turnstyle and not get a ticket. Did tweet the club asking if this was possible but no reply. Might get there a bit earlier than normal just in case, and I want to tick off the away end bar 8)

Yeah I haven't heard them mention that so just took it as we had to get tickets but the away end bar would be worth a shout

Looks like the same team that started at Forest, including the bench.
I'll just check.
P.S. Taylor replaces Kinsella on the bench.

Brighton's chief scoring threat Lua Lua starts from the bench, but there's no place there (or on the field) for Bobby Zamora.
Dingles 1-0 up against the mighty Barnet, 2 min.
Villa 0 Notts County 1, 15 min (Edit, now 1-1 30min)
