Bristol City (Wembley) JPT Final Sunday 22 March 3.30pm
About time this thread got started.
Thoughts, one and all? Leading in to the game I'm just hoping we don't get absolutely toned, but when I get there I know I'll be screaming for the win!
We've got form on these chokers for the big games.

Re: Bristol City (Wembley) JPT Final Sunday 22 March 3.30pm
I have no idea why so many people are 'happy' just to be at Wembley and be not bothered about winning. THE most important criterion for any team is to set out to win the game. I can't imagine Smith and O'Kelly [or any other manager on the planet] having a nice cosy chat with the team about their new suits, waving to their families and taking selfies with the Wembley arch and not bothering about the result
Bristol City should be dreading playing us, they are the bookies favourites and as Exile points out 'we've got form on these chokers!'

Well, here we are. Walsall at Wembley - excellent.
As tough an opponent as you could get really. They're strong, they score goals for fun, they're defensively strong - it's going to be tough.
We love to be the under dogs however. I'm going for:
Bristol City 1 - 2 Walsall
Mantom, Forde (both first half)
Attendance: 73,886

I'm going to go for 2-1 to the Saddlers after extra time!
Downing and Forde for us and Wilbraham for them.
If all are fit I would go with the below...
O'Donnell
Purkiss
J.Chambers
Downing
Taylor
Forde
A.Chambers
Mantom
Hiwula
Sawyers
Bradshaw
Subs:
Macgillivray
O'Connor
Benning
Cook
Grimes
Bakayoko/Baxendale
Cain
Att: 72,456

Feeling in my bones - 2-1 to us. Forde and Bradshaw if fit (Hiwula if not).
That big, nice pitch will suit us.

Re: Bristol City (Wembley) JPT Final Sunday 22 March 3.30pm
It's going to be one for the record books I think, but I'm trying not to get overally excited. I expect to lose, be surrounded by non Walsall supporting fans who won't sing, cheer or get involved. Plus our opponent, top of the league, beating everyone in site, I struggle to think that anything other than a very off day and perfect performance from us will lead to them not giving us a beating.
It's all about being there, soaking it up, enjoying the occasion and drinking as much ale as possible! Anything else is a bonus.
If we can score a goal and I can see 30,000 people cheer a Walsall goal, then I will walk away happy.
1-3. Forde for us.
74,318.

Going there as underdogs everyone expecting us to lose but its a one off game anything can happen, nobody thought we would beat reading at cardiff. Head says we will lose heart says we will sneak it, all I ask is a good performance and the players give 100% win or lose.

In the final, if the game is level, 30 minutes of extra time is played. If game is not decided at that point we play penalties.

Iv thought it for a couple of weeks and more so after the last couple of results this game will end 1-1 and we will win on penalties starting to get butterflies already, Who knows how many will be there 73,500 / 30,000 Saddlers for the day will be the ones smiling at the end though. UTS - CMON.

Totally disagree, it was all about getting there in my opinion. Win lose or draw i couldnt care less. Plus if we lose we can chase our first wembley win for the next 127 years. Obviously id love it if we won but its nice knowing there aint much riding on the result, unlike if we ever got there via the playoffs.
Oh and before i forget ive been told by a few people that they think its straight to pens after 90 mins, hope so because RO'D will win us this game if it goes to pens. Still hasnt signed a new deal either which worries me a hell of alot tbh because hes one of the best at this level and not far off irreplaceable....unless theres a few hundred grand going spare in the summer.
See you all at wembley.

Definitely extra time I'm afraid:
13.4 In the event of scores being level:-
13.4.1 at the end of ninety minutes’ play in all rounds apart from the Final; and
13.4.2 after the conclusion of the two legs in each Area Final, the winner shall be determined by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark in accordance with the Laws of Association Football.
13.5 In the Final tie, if the score is level at the end of 90 minutes an extra half hour shall be played. If the score is still level at the end of extra time the Final tie shall be determined by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark in accordance with the Laws of Association Football.

No. His appearance for Man City B team in an earlier round cup ties him.
Oops sorry. Time machine moment. Yeah, he can play.

It's been well reported up to now but Bristol fans are also asking us to join in a 1 minute applause in the 16th minute for Becky Watts the murdered school girl from Bristol.
Just thought I'd give it another mention as I assume everyone will join in on this.

Approximately 29,000 tickets sold from Walsall, but there will be tickets available at Wembley on Sunday to add to the total of around 70,000 sold so far. It would make a wonderful change for you to actually see the team you so often criticise.....

Preston were massive faves too, we had no chance of beating them over two legs according to some. Walsall always at their best when their backs are to the wall. We will triumph, I assure you.
