And Mantom would have laid him off a minute later for a sitter if he had put a bit more power on his cross.

By all accounts, he has actually been playing quite well bar the miss.

I think we have played fairly well tonight, always looked comfortable and really should have won by a bigger margin.
Chambers brothers superb, and Manset a realy bright spark second half.
Not the greatest of matches over all, but comfortable.

Full time, and it's a 1-0 WIN. I must dash over to the other board and add a "W" to a certain thread!!!
Well done the lads, and hopefully Bradshaw's hamstring will repond to treatment (again).

Second half was much better, thought Sawyers deserved his man of the match - worked very hard and set up a few chances as well as scoring the goal.

Re: Sheffield United (H) F'ball L'gue Trophy, Wed Nov 12, 7.
Despite the predictable negativity from the usual moaners and whingers further up the thread, that was actually a really well organised and hard-working display. Albeit against a side that had no interest in pursuing success in this competition. As others have said, Chambers (J) outstanding at the back. No one played poorly and could/should have been more.
The 2,000-odd who actually made it to the game should get free tickets for Wembley if we get there. Not easy to fork out for three games in a week.

Cracking win, well done all. Hope the Bradshaw half time sub was just a precaution.
Is it just another ten rounds in this competition?

Agreed. Both Chambers brothers were excellent and Manset did look sharp when he came on, but not an option for 90 minutes. Even Grimes had a decent effort on target tipped round the post and generally looked 'up for it'. Sawyers played much better second half and his [slightly deflected] goal even came direct from a corner.
A deserved win without Bradshaw for half of it too!
No one had an out-and-out poor game but both Forde and Cain were average at best.

I can only find one match other than ours that has been played this week in the Northern section, and it finished Bury 1 Tranmere Rovers 2.
The other two games to be played are Oldham Athletic v Preston North End, and Doncaster Rovers v Notts County.
The four teams left in the Southern section are Bristol City, Gillingham, Leyton Orient, and Coventry City.

Disagree with this actually. Cain is a massive improvement on Clifford and Flanagan and it's no surprise to me that our results have improved with him in the team (although a fit Sam Mantom will be an improvement on Cain). Forde is disciplined in his role and I think he'd benefit from swapping with Cook, who is more likely to come inside on to his stronger right foot, whereas Forde wants to hug the touchline which he can't really do on the left.

Re: Sheffield United (H) F'ball L'gue Trophy, Wed Nov 12, 7.
i dont rate Cain that much at all to be honest (although only seen him in last two matches), Mantom is twice the player he is. Forde is very much a wingers winger, drifts in and out the game. Always willing to run at his man though which is an asset in itself.
Thought Cook looked very rusty tonight too.
It was pleasing we played the better football too tonight, Sheff Utd are horrendous
