Rotherham United (A) League One 15 Mar, 3pm
From a supposedly "easy" home game against the most leaky defence in the league, we now travel to the new-ish home of Rotherham United. Although its name is The New York Stadium it is actually in Rotherham. Managed by Steve Evans, a man whose past murky dealings make Alan Pardew look like a saint, Rotherham are sitting very comfortably in the play-off zone in 5th place (65 points) and have a healthy goal difference of +23. Their current League form:-
15 Feb Stevenage (H) Won 2-1
22 Feb Carlisle United (A) Won 1-2
25 Feb Preston North End (A) Drew 3-3
1 Mar Notts County (H) Won 6-0
4 Mar Colchester United (A) Drew 0-0
11 Mar Oldham Athletic (A) Won 0-2
Rotherham's current form is so good that you have to go all the way back to January 1st to see their most recent loss (1-3 at home to Coventry City). In the corresponding home fixture last September we came away with a 1-1 draw having been 0-1 down early on. Our equaliser that day was courtesy of Sam Mantom, and it's reassuring that he will be available for this game having served his 3-match suspension. Rotherham's goalscoring has largely been down to Messrs Agard and Frecklington (27 goals between them) and scoring goals "for fun" has been demonstrated throughout the season. They can have their off-days however - losing 0-4 at home to Swindon must have taken some doing, and we can but hope that they're in that frame of mind on Saturday.
With our current form I can't honestly see us getting anything like a positive result out of this one. If we even manage to score it will be something of a plus....but bearing in mind the blows that the woodwork took against Crewe (post and bar) let's hope for another 1-1, and I don't care who gets our goal........ (o.g. again?) :D

If we get anything from this then I'd be amazed and delighted. Can't see it though.

This is the kind of game we'l win 1-0, in true Smith and Walsall fashion and come away beaming with the team again.
Presume our following will be reasonable given it's a new ground, a Saturday and not a million miles away.
Part of me says we'l get a minimum of a 1-1 draw here and the other says it'l be a 4 or 5-1 Coventry esque performance.
At least Mantom is back.

Any bricklayers gewin? We will need 'em to build a breezeblock wall in front of our goalmouth to keep 'em out. May as well leave it there for the second half cus we couldn't score in a brothel anyway. :(
Two months ago we would have gone there expecting to get something out of the fixture, however, now?
Can't see anything but a good drubbin, and it breaks my heart to admit it. :( :( :?

A 3-1 defeat, unfortunately, with Mantom scoring for us. Rotherham are one of the 'strong 5' at the top of the division and will be simply too good for us on present form.

Those were the days! We actually had players that could surge forward, take on and beat defenders, and then score with a net breaker...........Oh what joy! :D

I fully expect us to lose this one so it'll probably be 1-0 to us or a draw.

Play like they did the other night Rotherham will wipe the floor with us. Big improvement needed.
Anyone partaking in drinky's in Sheffield I can recommend the following pubs:
The Harlequin on Nursery street, great selection of beer & cider and the ham chips & eggs is a huge portion of ham hock with proper chips.
The Fat Cat ,Alma Street. Armed with many beers and a random raspberry cider. Be wary if you take a dump in the bog though, the door don't lock as I found out to my cost.
Kelham Island Tavern, Russell street. ditto with decent beer, including their own brewery stuff.
Devonshire Cat, Wellington street, crafty type beer there.
Sheffield tap - fridges stuffed with strong brews around the world.

Walsall to be apathetic until Steve Evans kicks the head off a small dog.
A complete turn round in application results in a stunning 1-1 draw.

We will lose because the owner didn't replace our forward line.
Again.

Rotherham Utd. 5 Walsall 0....with half on this board saying we are still doing the right thing...even when reality, physics, history, logic and statistics prove them wrong.
Maybe the score needs to be 15-0 until some people get the point....or perhaps not scoring one goal all season. Or perhaps having one goal attempt all season...
Maybe some people in this forum still believe in the FIRST GOAL IS THE KEY philosophy......

Hemmings to shoot out of the stadium
Westcarr's shot doesn't reach the six yard box even though he was shooting from inside the pentalty area
Lalkovic to run further wide and ends up getting tangled up with the ball boy
Baxendale has problems getting onto the pitch as he is being mixed up with a ballboy by the fourth official
Nooooooogoooood is arguing with Dean Smith about who takes the penalties
