Tranmere Rovers (A) League One Sat 11th Jan 3pm
Off to Merseyside on Saturday to play the corresponding fixture to our memorable opening game, the demolition of Tranmere Rovers 3-1. Everything formwise suggests that we should be able to do the double, but any side managed (and motivated) by Ronnie Moore should never be underestimated. Having said that, he has been less than complimentary of his own side recently, describing them as "embarrassing" after their F.A. Cup exit at the hands of Peterborough 5-0 and "gutless" when losing 4-1 at Carlisle. Tranmere's most recent League One form:
30 Nov Colchester United (H) Won 2-1
14 Dec Carlisle United (A) Lost 4-1
20 Dec Gillingham (H) Lost 1-2
26 Dec Shrewsbury Town (A) Won 0-1
29 Dec Sheffield United (A) Lost 3-1
1 Jan Wolverhampton Wanderers (H) Drew 1-1
Currently 20th in the League One table, Tranmere are only above the bottom four by virtue of a better goal difference than Crewe Alexandra. Worth noting, however, is that they've actually scored more League goals than we have (28 against our 27). It would appear that if we can restrain Ryan Lowe we give ourselves a good chance - with 15 goals so far this season he's by far their most dangerous threat. The most encouraging statistic comes from their leaky defence which has conceded 44 goals so far, only exceeded by the afore-mentioned Crewe.
All things being equal we should be able to play to our strengths and come away with a 1-2 victory. Lalkovic to celebrate his loan extension by scoring both goals.

I'd take a draw. Never an easy place to go to.

I have discovered that the UK's only combined pub/gentleman's barbers is now operating on the Wirral so this promises to be an excellent sojourn.
Mine's a pint of Okell's and a wet shave.

I have a feeling we are going to win 4-0 [Westcarr, Lalkovic 2 and Mantom].

As a footnote to my OP it's interesting to note that of the top 9 teams in the table, 6 are playing each other. Could be good for us........
Brentford v Port Vale
Swindon Town v Peterborough United
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Preston North End
They can't all win!! :D

Aye as long as we do our bit the table could be very interesting come quarter to five...or more like five o'clock when games finally finish !! Think we will sneak it with a Sawyers goal 0-1
Up the Saddlers forever !!!

I have no idea how we'll do (like everyone else, actually) but as I am constitutionally unable to predict a Walsall defeat, I'll go for one of the commonest scores: 2 - 1 to the Walsall; scorers, Albert Vinall and Tommy Brownlee.

A 3-1 away win, the same as this time last year against Preston.
Hopefully, he drops Baxendale.

Sawyer's to score a silky strike to sink the scousers for the sexy, super, Saddlers.

Tranmere 0 - 2 Walsall
Peak district magic with Butler and Lalkovic to snatch the points.

I have been persuaded to attend tomorrow and will wear a combination of clothing guaranteed to produce A SHOCK AND AWE performance from Smith and O'Kelly's team.
Not very keen on Tranmere since my first attendance back in the early 70's for a Friday night game when, due to fog, we didn't arrive until halftime when we were already 3 - 0 down. I think we lost 4 - 1 and some little scutter nicked the aerial off my brothers car.
If anyone was witness to this crime and can provide evidence for a successful prosecution hopefully leading to the death sentence then please contact your local police station. I am offering a reward of an evening with Saigon Saddler as an extra incentive.

My "home" game.
It's lashed it down all week up here so expect the pitch to be heavy.
Their lot have been in the doldrums pretty much since the first twenty minute football lesson we gave them on the opening day of the season. There's been the odd spark though (they walloped Coventry Cobblers away) so we need to be on our mettle.
2-1 to us with me re-assuring my son that despite the songs, being a Scouser and a Saddler are not mutually exclusive and that Tranmere aren't even proper scousers anyway.

My only hope for him is that he's from the Black Country, but has acquired a cack Scouse accent.
Get him spakin' proper and he'll be fine.
