England Vs Montenegro
Anyone care? Is football coming home? Will Hart make a clanger? Who will let us down?

I spoke to a mate of mine re going out this weekend for ale and curry. He asked which day England were playing, Friday or Saturday. My response was "I didn't even know they were playing". For some reason they're just not on my radar anymore.

Same here. In the early nineties I never used to miss a game at Wembley, driving 5 hours total there and back after work. Now, I literally couldn't care less.

Is it too early to superimpose Roy Hodgson's head on to a pumpkin?
Just trying to work out what vegetable would suit him if we lose.

Good beard. Good attitude towards Chiles.

Ukraine winning. Stays like this, it's the playoffs.
Ukraine's final fixture is San Marino.

You'd think Continental tires would of created a new advertisement by now.

It's great to see the positive effect the Premier League is having on the national team. The cynics didn't believe it would happen, yet look at us now, beating teams like Montenegro. Who'd have thunked it ay?

Weird really, but now we are worse than we have been for years, I am more interested. Been turned off for the last 15 years by the arrogance of the English media, the saftness of the flag hanging out the window chavs and the false hysteria, band wagon jumping coooonts and boo locks every time a tournament takes place.
Plus the fact I like old Woy. Glad the Scunthorpe Redknap day get the job.

Re: England Vs Montenegro
The expectation on England is indeed at an all time low, which is of course refreshing. The one person I feel sorry for is Woy who has the worst squad since 1994.
We are a bit cack but we're doing ok, 1 to go, come on England!

Re: England Vs Montenegro
We're clinging on at the moment. If we don't qualify we may well not be seeded for the next round of qualifications, which means rather than battling with Ukraine for qualification we could be battling with Germany or Spain.
In the past I'd have said we should walk this group but as Saddlerken says, this squad is poor. The copper generation.
Let's get qualified and hope the likes of Townsend, Wilshire and Sturridge can keep improving.
One of the founding principles of the Premier League was that it would help the national side. The world cup that preceded the formation of the premier league was Italy when we got to the semi-final. The FA deserve a cack national team for selling the game down the river. Nobs.

me too actually.
Even being crap is more interesting than watching a Capello side.
I actually enjoyed the game the other night, nice too see us play with a proper winger, and play with a tempo. I think we are alright when lots of players don't pull out due to a sniffle.
Tough game in the week, Poland will come to win and the pressure is off them, there will be loads of them at Wembley. It will be quiet in the Midlands, i might go shopping.

Re: England Vs Montenegro
Horrible memories of that game at Wembley where we need to beat Poland to qualify for the World Cup. Their goalkeeper was labelled "a clown", but he put on the performance of a lifetime that night, and we couldn't score. Tomasewski????? One of those games you block out of your mind, in my case so effectively that I've even forgotten the year it took place!!!
Ugh!!!
Ugh!!!

Re: England Vs Montenegro
October 73. I remember it well. We needed a win and it was considered a foregone conclusion, despite having lost 2-0 to Poland in June, a match which ended Bobby Moore's international career. A 1-1 draw wasn't enough, Jan Tomaszewski had a tremendous game (was it Clough who had described him as a clown?). Domarski scored, having put the ball through Norman Hunter's legs, and a late penalty equaliser was the best we could do. With hindsight, it was a pretty decent Poland team who went on to finish 3rd in the following year's finals, but you would have thought we'd lost to San Marino the way people went on.
