Clearly now Saigon appears to have taken over (presumably using some perverted technique) I would suggest that this year's competition be deemed NULL AND VOID.

Think about it - Saigon finishing above the mighty Manchester Saddler?

Exile - having to break the habit of a lifetime and open his wallet?

Both IMPOSSIBLE SCENARIOS!!

(P.S. Exile - you can pay me later...)

Here is a brief update on the league standings - I hope to able to produce a full table when getting to a larger city later in the week.

Big winners of this week are King Crimson (who appears to have fluked a good result for a change), Four Oaks Saddler and Aldridge Saddler (who by great skill and judgement earned their just rewards) they all scored 4 points. No zeros but FrayB (the inexorable slide continues), Cumbria, gerryhattrick and Duke will be disappointed with just one point.

The table positions are as follows.....

HKSaddler......73
Stig231.........69
Canadian.......68
JollyJohnny.....67
Exile............67
King Crimson..67
Four Oaks......64
Whitti..........64
Saigon..........64
Maverick.......64
Fray Bentos....63
Gerryhattrick..60
Asps............59
Casual D........59
Manchester....57
Duke............54
Ned Kelly.......52
Jeffsmate......52
Saddlersam.....49
Kevin............48
Flemish.........43
Morty............42
Tinned..........42
Welsh Saddler..40
Aldridge.........39
Swiftyboy........37
DanWalsallFC....37
Cumbriasaddler..34
Kiansmom........34
No change for the rest

HK maintains a stranglehold on top spot. Congratulations to King Crimson for bosting out of the main body to join the chasing breakaway. The curry duo are evenly poised. The Saigon/Manchester battle remains at a huge 7 points, and several predictors - 4Oaks, Ned Kelly and Aldridge move up places.

Funny how lady luck distributes her bounty, this week she seems to have been quite mean as it was not a big scoring one and not many changes either. This weeks top scorer is Asps with a measly 3 points so well done there. Several unfortunate recipients of big, fat zeros, including: King Crimson, Aldridge Saddler, Manchester, Casual D, Kevin, Ned Kelly and Flemish. Saigon was on for another two points until the Bournemouth defence disappointed yet again, conceeding a 90+3 goal. HK's long standing lead shaved a point, but still 3 points ahead of the nearest challenger - Stig 231. Still all to play for and anything can happen! Don't forget Monday's games!

Full table update on Tuesday evening - jetlag permitting.

The table positions are as follows.....

HKSaddler.......74
Stig231..........71
Canadian........69
JollyJohnny......69
Exile.............68
King Crimson...67
Four Oaks.......66
Whitti...........66
Maverick........66
Saigon...........65
Fray Bentos.....65

Ned Kelly.........52
Jeffsmate.......52
Saddlersam......49
Kevin.............48
Flemish..........43

Slowly catching up HK! I'll take 2 points but it could have been so much better - I was on for 4 points from my two Friday games until Tranny got their late equaliser at Hartlepool. :(

Roll on today's games!

Here is the full table for week 38:

In summary, King Crimson over-achieves and threatens the top group with a huge surge, Four Oaks Saddler also moves up well and the battle is on in the 2nd half of the table with Aldridge, Swiftyboy and Cumbria all improving their positions. The missing (PM'd) game is added to the 'played' column of Asps. 6 players still realistically in the hunt for top spot.

Here is the full table for Week 39:

In summary, Stig 231 nibbles a little of HK's lead, King Crimson falls back from whence he came, Saigon loses a bit of ground and Asps moves up a couple of places. Not much else going on in a low scoring week. 5-6 players still in with a shout of first place.

Now the update after Mondays games and the current table:

Lots of movement - so I hope you are one of the lucky ones. The top scorer is Manchester Saddler with a creditable 4 points - too late to catch any of the better predictors though, I feel!
Zeros for 2 players: Ned Kelly and Fray Bentos, whose disasterous fall from grace over the last few weeks has been epic and threatens to match the notorious Crimson collapse of a few years ago.
Asps rises again and Welsh Saddler is the king of the 2nd table, leapfrogging 3 players.

Two games left and and 12 points up for grabs. This means there are 2 predictors in with good shout of top spot. One is HK, who has been leading for ages. Stig 231 must hope that the pressure finally tells and the 3 point margin can be overturned. It has happened before! If so, this would be Stig's 3rd consecutive victory!

The prediction league didn't happen this year.

Results missed, cheating and, the final insult, Saigon Saddler taking control.

No wonder I performed so badly.

Indeed, a travesty.

If HK won on merit I could accept it. Why, in a balanced competition like this, did this happen? Why? Predicting is equal for everyone. The person that deserves to win should win.

It must be difficult to get this power. Saigon has managed to get this power. No one else has any chance really. Today. Myself. I don't understand why. I hope one day I will find the answer.

It could be worse, you could be Fray Bentos reviewing the latest league table and wondering how his elder and better blood relative came from 56 points behind to be 3 points in front. :D

Here is the current table and bearing in mind there is just ONE more week to play, it should make good reading for HK who remains 3 points ahead of his nearest contenders. Those contenders are stig231 and Jolly Johnny, a predictor who has enjoyed a fine run of recent form to propel him into joint second place. JJ top scored with 4 points this week, along with the player rising to 4th place: King Crimson - so well done to them both. Whitti Steve and Maverick both jumped up the rankings a little, whereas Canadian Saddler and Exile, the curry duo, both slipped down a few places. With three points in it, Canadian is likely to emerge triumphant this season. Only one zero, that dubious honour is Swiftyboy's to enjoy or endure, alone.

Image

Only members of the top 5 can mathematically win this year's league and of them only the top three have a realistic chance. Predictors can always PM their submissions if they think it will benefit them - PMs of predictions to be posted on the prediction thread as proof after games end. Note - Fray Bentos scored 2 points via a text which was sent to me. Timestamped and witnessed by Percie at the game.

My surge is too little too late, but considering my lowly position early on in the season, I have had a Dean Smith-esque recovery. I look forward to making my last prediction to make a push for european glory.

I able to say that Whitti Steve finished at least 6th.
