Northampton Town give up on Adebayo Akinfenwa

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 692924.stm

We need a target man. He scored 17 goals last season in 43 games so it seems he's over his injury problems and must be a better/younger and fitter option than Parkin was.
Sign him up Hutch.

I'd be surprised if Deeney stays. Be a shame if he left though.

Never mind his wages, we couldnt afford to sign him based on the amount he'd eat during training

To be fair, they'd have run out of pies 20 mins before training started anyway, may have some coke zero behind the counter but doubt he'd be interested in that

Tony Warner (gk) has been released from Charlton. 36 years old, got plenty of expirience, would take him as a back up for Rene, though he's not played much in the last few years.

Only thing is, is it replacing like for like. 36/37 year old keeper from trinidad? :D

Also, i was watching Morecambe's playoff game the other, their keeper Barry Roche looked very impressive. No idea whether he's out of contract, but if he is, i'd snap him up, his wages would be considerably lower than some of our players i'd imagine.

intresting stating that walsall is close to bristol. I know Rhys' family was far away in Scotland but would this work for us. probably just agent talk but would he help deeneys style of play and bring out the best in him

To be fair I would decline the offer. We have Byfield, Deeney and Nicholls.
We need a target man before we go and sign another fox in the box.

Cureton - hmmmm

Was a good player, but has he still got it? . If Deeney leaves then maybe bring Cureton in for a season to support Byfield and provide some experience for Grigg to learn from.

Why? Last position we need to spend money on with no budget.

1 = Gilmartin
Youth keeper reserve.

Beyond that we can always get an emergency loan. Loads cheaper than a benchwarmer, as long as the emergency isn't called Andy Petterson.

I think Rene does need someone experienced with him bringing him on still and as back up but also challenging him! You do not want a young fairly inexperienced goalkeeper getting complacent.

he has someone experienced with him, we seem to be forgetting that his goalkeeping coach is mick kearns, not some fool that blagged his fa badges. an ex international goalkeeper and walsall legend! rene will be fine.... and as for deeney he aint going anywhere, everytime a scout comes near him they realise he hasnt got a touch. need more than a few goals to play higher than league 1.... i agree with the need of a midfielders, sign a right winger and some to hold to let taundry go and create.

yes we have jones, but if we want to improve on last season then need to strenthen that area. sign another winger so then you have the option of richards, gray, jones and then another to give more options. someone like lewis gobern from mk, not sure if he would cost too much though.

I think the priority lies in signing a left winger and strengthing the middle.
