Even if we do sign him, we probably won't see him, like that Goalkeeper we signed up last season, Maher?

Yeah but the Southend fans thought he was guano. Even going as far to say as one of the worst left backs they have seen :?

From a Southend United fan on Peter Gilbet - "Average at best. Fairly sold defensively, but turned easily and can't pass water. Will struggle in League One."

Martin O'Connor was on WM before the match yesterday saying we'd "signed a couple of players".

He played him on the win at telford though, and was one of a few who wanted to get the ball in the box.

Could be good, could be another Peter Till!

Might be one to stay away then.

To be honest, not going to lie, none of our signings (bar Flo) have been that good on paper, bunch of League Two'ers going by reports, we'll see what happens this season though first obviously.

I agree. We're feeding off the scraps more than ever. If you look at comparable clubs, such as Yeovil and Leyton Orient, they are simply light years ahead in terms of the quality of players they are signing - quality defined as being established at our level. Whether they are light years ahead in terms of league position at the end of the season remains to be seen, but its hard to be optimistic as a Saddler right now.

Are they, though, really? They've signed some very average League One / League Two footballers, just as we have. OH and I doubt very much that their signings are anywhere near Flo's level.

As I said, they have signed League one players. With the exception of Flo, we clearly have not - so far anyway.

...and Dean Holden, I'd suggest. I wouldn't have many, if any, of their players in our side to be fair. As you say, whether they are 'light years ahead' in terms of league position, remains to be seen. On paper, our signings are certainly no better nor worse than your Yeovils, Orients etc.

Dean Holden was playing for a side that got relegated from league one, which does not exactly fill me with confidence, although he has undoubtedly had a good pedigree in the past. For the record, I'd have James Hayter, Jamie McAlistair and Nathan Clarke like a shot...

Each to their own, mate. I'd imagine those signings took up a fair chunk of their budget, whilst ours (maybe Holden aside) won't have. I get the feeling we're planning something, as it just doesn't make sense otherwise. The trialists would generally be inexpensive and we've obviously lost the likes of Macken and Ledesma, who would have been on fair whack... let alone the compensation from Sheffield United (Westlake), Notts County (Smith) and Tank (Wolves). Naive probably, but there SHOULD be room in our budget for a marquee signing of sorts (and I doubt we're paying all of Flo's wages) in the ilk of Hayter (?).

Well personally from Orient's signings I'd definitely have - Lloyd Sam in our side, Michael Symes & Mathieu Baudry, possibly Nathan Clarke too.

Yeovil - Reuben Reid and Hayter definitely, if they click that could be a tidy little partnership. I'd have Jamie McAllister as well.

It just seems like we're signing some right cack this season, worse than ever, bar Flo, Hemmings, Holden (maybe) and Brandy (maybe), what exactly is the point of this Connor Taylor lad? We need a recognised Macken type striker, I hope to god he hasn't been snapped up to actually play first team football when Tamworth fans didn't even rate him. I don't know nothing about Featherstone but someone who played for Hereford last season never really gets me excited.

As ever I'm not going to be some miserable fudge before we've kicked a ball but Jesus this team so far looks average in League Two, need some names and not footballers who have just impressed on trial.

Anyone else worried about the distinct lack of experience among the players we're signing, Holden being the exception
