Is number 16 the one on the right who put in like 4 good crosses? HE was the pick of a bunch but i didnt recognise him, and he looked like a 17 year old with a drink problem. I doubt hes marquee.

Jake Jones is listed as no 16 on the OS under the play profile section, I doubt it would've been him because I imagine he would have been recognised, saying that he didn't play much last season so who knows.

No. this is worse than footballrumours.
No one said he was on trial. Westlake played a friendly for Sheff Utd before they signed him (for a fee). Guy only came on to share some info, cut him some slack people.
Exactly, so many keyboard warriors on here, so pathetic at times
 I was just asking the question. Admittedly, I hadn't thought of the 'compensation fee' side of it, which is totally feasible, but now I'm a keyboard warrior, whatever one of those is. Calm down pal.

The number 16 definitely wasn't Jake Jones, and i agree, number 16 was quality though. But paying a fee for him??? I'll believe it when i see it.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2012
I like Scooby's comment - you are right, I was not at the Telford game but I was basing my idea on Fred-like clues gleaned from this website and info I have read elsewhere. I am a fan not an agent but there are several pieces to the jigsaw which suggest that this could happen. My hunch is based on a number of different factors but the main one is the close connections that Smith and O'Kelly definitely have. I cannot believe that O'Kelly would want to play hoof ball if we could get the right players in that can pass and move. I'm not saying we're Barcelona but Buckley and Rees were diminutive forwards who I remember with more fondness than lumps like Dave Bamber, despite his surprisingly good strike rate over his whole career. Remember that if we recoup money for Tank, Westlake, Smith and maybe even Gerrard this summer, a deal could be struck which is paid in instalments. For me, it would represent a great investment and, who knows, we may become a feeder club to a certain club not a million miles from Walsall.

In addition to my message without thinking, didn't we have a certain Jorge Leitao as a trialist before shelling out 150k on him?

Indeed, he played 45 minutes against Raith Rovers, scored 2 or 3, we took him off at half time and hid him away until the deal was completed to avoid anyone nabbing him... James Constable came on trial too, we then paid a fee for him.

The Excuse and Dingle transfer rumours say all quiet at Bescot today, so I'm expecting four signings at least!

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2012
I think that this makes interesting reading, particularly the 2006 0ones ason:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PFA_Team_o ... ague_Two_4
I'm amazed how many times that Ian Sharps has made the div 2 team. I know that he has now joined the Rotherham revolution but it proves that good players doesn't always mean big names on big wages.
I hope that someone from the club reads this current thread because even the prospect of a signing with some ambition has really captured the imagination of some Walsall supporters - I am really getting my hopes up, although I fear that our season could ultimately go a similar way as the unfortunate affects of my post-hospital medication (where a trump is like playing Russian Roulette!)

A slightly less clandestine approach, petewfc, but you have rumbled my subtle manouevring! Does anyone remember our last encounter with JArvis UNited in the F.A. Cup a few seasons back when a clumsy challenge by Westlake on loan man Hemmings brought about a penalty stroked home by BIlly Kee?
In reality, it will probably br money-bags SWindon, but we're allowed to dream aren't we?

I am reading that BOurnemouth are favourites to sign him...
I shall start the self-flagellation process now.
I shall also don a tin hat for the inevitable pelters which shall follow

Definitely not him that played the other night but would be a good signing. Not likely I wouldn't have thought!

Unfortunately he was found not guilty and allowed to continue his career with Walsall.

As the Sky repaot states:-
Sky Sports understands Torquay United have accepted a bid from a mystery League One club for midfielder Eunan O'Kane.
That rules us out people!!!

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours 2012
We're about as likely to sign Craig Mackail-Smith as we are Eunan O'Kane, Torquay wanted a reported £500k for him and Swindon/Bournemouth and 2 or 3 others are interested, Peterborough I think. It wont be him.
Wouldnt mind taking a look at him - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amari_Morgan-Smith
We all no what happened last time we took Luton player who was big and black and played on the wing, but he's from wolverhampton, scored 14 last season and wasn't offered a contract. Dont be surprised if thats the type of player Smith and our budget is looking at.

Craig Mackail-Smith scored three goals after November last season. Think we could do a lot better.

Deadly serious. I wouldn't sign any player with a double-barrelled surname. Whether it's Craig Mackail-Smith, Archibald Troy-Henville or Robin Van-Persie.

Don't blame you. That Ryan Frickin-Jarvis fella was a rank bad signing. Let them stick to playing Rugby, the middle class twerp.

AFC Bournemouth had signed him for undisclosed fee on a three-year deal. Both the fee and length of contract were unrealistic for us
