I was told that Summerfield turned down £500 p/w basic. Which we probably then spent on Peterlin.

I know the phrase "we can't compete with Fleetwood" will send the board into meltdown but it's true. They've got a sugar daddy and were routinely paying players £3k a week in the Conference.

Quite correct Fleetwood were paying Peter Till to warm the bench more than we were paying Richard Taundry

We had Summerfield on loan a couple of years back .. cracking little player .. the word is it's us .. yourselves .. Bournemouth & Yeovil after him .. but I know his wages are rather on the high side .. Rotherham supposedly offered him 3k a week which he turned down ... and that will put us out of it unless Matt Spring goes .. Our mate Terrell Forbes would have been a steady signing for you .. not first choice material but a good back up .. still after Chambers & Jarvis would you have anybody else off us ?

Summerfield is son of former player Kevin Summerfield , could be true ? but Im certain he wouldnt want to move up here, I would say Yeovil are favourites to sign him myself

Cheltenham probably have a bigger budget than us. So hell probably have to take a pay cut.

Ive heard a vicious rumour that within the next 5 weeks we 'may' sign someone, but like I say it's only a rumour.

Not particularly Fleetwood, but christ is a worry when we seem to be struggling to compete with Cheltenham. At what point do we stop saying 'ooh we can't compete with this club, that club, no right to compete with them over there etc'. Talk about a race to the bottom.

Luke Summerfield looks or sounds likely to be joining shrewsbury. Is there actually any hope of us competing with any football league team?

Sadders I've told everyone in here everybody at the club isn't bothered along as we stay up say on goal difference or a point, there's no real cash being touted about this year even less than last year. So the guys need to be thinking league 2 free agents or BSP players.

What a lovely job Walsall FC manager must be:

1. Offer contracts
2. Review number of professionals left.
3. Scrape barrel or promote boys to make up numbers.
4. Make whatever astute loan signing you can using proceeds from Ian Sludge Lees evening.
5. Finish any position between 8th and 20th - well done!
6. Reduce playing budget.
7. Repeat until relegated and sacked.

I'd like us to take a look at Shaun Miller at Crewe, still young and has had an okay scoring record in the past. Crewe I think have granted him a free transfer.

Interesting to note that on the PFA official web site there are only 3 players shown as transfer listed where the selling club obviously wants a fee and 17 pages each with 30 players on where the players are out of contract.

Plenty of decent players on there.

Suprised if Giles Barnes ends up anywhere better than us, good player but youd be petrified every time another player went near him, he would implode.

With O'Kelly now confirmed as assistant, I could see us picking up James Hayter.

Harry Kewell quit Melbourne Victory today and is now looking for a club in England....still a good player but wage demands are through the roof. However will anyone have him?

Naylor won't happen - too much wages for a LB.

I can see us signing James Chambers (who can play either RB or LB) and if we re-sign Beevers, he can play RB or fill in at CB for the inevitable suspensions that will inevitably occur (based on our woeful disciplinary record under Smith's tenure).

I would like to see Hayter join because we cannot rely solely on kids for goals and he could be very much in the mould of Kevin Wilson (a small, regular goalscorer at a higher level with bags of experience to pass on). I am also more hopeful with O'Kelly coaching the forwards because he was a cracking striker in his day so knows what he's talking about.

We have been linked with numerous LBs (Thomas Cruise has been linked more than once) and with Grof and Butler, this could be the beginnings of a decent back five.

I was sad to see Tank go because he was the best player for us whenever I saw the reserves play last season; however, the money will come in useful for wages and I am genuinely optimistic about the prospect of transfer activity in the coming weeks.

One name that noone has mentioned yet (as far as I know) - look out for Yoann Arquin
