Maybe if people were aware some time ago who it was then maybe all of this could have been avoided, I'm mainly talking about the way the Mods have or have appeared to have been forced into a position whereby there is certainly a bias towards board nutcase

What secret? Nothing new is known AFAIK. Fred/Wendy etc is NOT another user. Cheesebag knows him, I know Cheesebag well enough to trust him when he tells me this. If no-one believes that, then thats their problem. As I stated before, I dont always agree with some of the stuff he does, but banning only brings him back in a different guise. Other posters have done the same since being banned.

I'm struggling with this concept too. The train of thought seems unclear to me.

For me then, it's like this:
1) Mods have the power to ban users who are 'spurious'/alter-egos etc. on the basis of breach of AUP.
2) It has been suggested that mods should be able to ban the above for hurtful, personal, spiteful attacks on established/'real' users
3) But, banning by username enables re-registration (via the creation of a new username)
4) And, banning by e-mail enables re-registration (via the creation of a new e-mail address)
5) And, banning by IP address enables re-registration (via a new IP account) and can frequently cause 'collaterial damage'
6) So, in the face of 3-5, its potentially better to work with established posters rather than persistently banning a user who we cannot identify until they post something bannable (and even then it may not be easy to identify them as a poster with 'previous').
7) WM is now somewhat 'established' in that the entire PooPoo/Claypole/Mahabrat/ShoeCakey stuff has largely abated and WM is clearly identifiable by username (although not traceable via IP). Users can therefore give whatever credence they wish to 'her' posts, put 'her' on the Foes List etc. etc. These options are not available when faced with a 'moving target'.

Like Steve, I'm wondering what's 'new' about any of this. Also like Steve, I've no idea who WM is.

Can I echo what Steve wrote (not that I'll be believed being a mod). As far as I can see, from using the moderating tools available, WM is not an alter-ego of any other poster on this board.

I do not know who "she" is and to be honest don't care. But even if I did I don't see it fit for moderators to start divulging this information to all and sundry. Some posters on here need to think if they would be happy for moderators to divulge their real names to random people that asked them.

If I see any posts off WM (or any other poster) that fall foul of the AUP then I will immediately delete the post and discuss possible further action with my fellow mods.

I agree with KC that the best thing to do, for any poster that finds WM distasteful, is to add "her" to your foes list and you'll never have to see "her" posts again.

Who has NO problem with WM? Most I've read say that they agree that at times WM has gone way OTT. That's why he has been banned on numerous occasions.

My problem as a mod is that I have to draw imaginary lines every day as to what is and is not acceptable, and I do not appreciate my free moderation of this forum being dissected according to anyone else's whim as to how it "ought" to proceed. I and my fellow mods operate within parameters, not as gods.
