I hope the rumours about them putting out a weakened side are bullshit. Even their official site says it doesn't know how serious they are gonna take it. If they do that then we probably will too and it'll be a boring game.

colin lee in the e&s last night said he didnt have a big enough squad to play a weakend side so it looks like the first 11 tonight boys.

Carlisle can't seriously be putting out a reserve side can they?
By Stu (212.137.33.208) on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 - 10:46 am: Edit
I'll be happy if they put out a weakened side, if they do, then we should go all out for goals in a bid to get confidence even higher in time for Saturday.
Although, personally, I'd rest Merson and Samways. At 35, we need to be making sure they're not going to tire.
In Stefan Oakes we've got a very good player, surely we should be using him tonight. Whilst Matias should run rings around a 3rd division defense if you use him to replace Merson.
After hitting a hat-trick against Pelsall Villa last night, I wonder if Fryatt might appear on the bench.

The ticket office were this morning saying that they expect about 4000. I would like to think that we could push that to about 5000-5500. so come on everyone grab a friend, neighbour, grand-mother or anybody and let's get behind the lads!
By Me2 (195.92.168.172) on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 - 01:04 pm: Edit
I would have thought quite a few fans and neutrals *may* turn up on the night without tickets expecting to pay on the gate. it could be a busy night for the guys in the ticket office.

Steelmass, we all have to start somewhere as supporters.
I've been to Gillingham and Norwich and Millwall and all sorts of other grounds with far less than 200 other fans and quite frankly it isn't class it's crap.
What do you want, to be top of divison one and only 2,000 fans watching because that is our hardcore support?
Bring on the glory hunters.

"Not all people live near Walsall. Try getting to Walsall on a night after a days work if you come London, Newcastle or Sheffield for that matter."
I'm quite aware of that. Unfortunately, you failed to notice that I said that I more than understood that work commitments keep people away. I also understand that every single night the motorway network is hell to get through. Not only the m6, but the M5 from Wales and the south-west, the M1 from London and the East, the M42 from Nottingham/Derby and the M6 from the North and from Birmingham.
"Some people may not be able to afford it and preferred to go to the West Brom game, which they had to buy 2 tickets for I might add!"
I'm not out to abuse poorer fans, I'm hardly rich myself, am I? again, I think I said that I understand that obviously you are going to get bigger crowds for the Albion match. I'm not asking for 11,000 fans tonight, that'd be stupid to expect. As a season ticket holder, you'll have to excuse me from not knowing various conditions for tickets.
"Oh, and dont forget Wackas testimonial. What match would you have gone to Jorge14? Wackas for 10 loyal years service or Carlise? I know where most people would have put their money"
I know where my money went last Tuesday, to Jimmy Walker. Again, as I said above, I wouldn't expect a big gate.
"In my opinion its yet another OWN GOAL from the super commercial department at Walsall FC. Firstly because they made people buy 2 tickets for the West Brom game and secondly because isnt it £10 for the Carlise game? Wouldnt it be better to sell double that if you charged people £5 and create a better atmosphere?"
I agree totally. Despite the hype about how commercially better we are than even Premiership clubs, that is a HUGE own goal.
"Oh and finally I just went to see how much the Carlise tickets were on the official site under tickets and Coming Up. The Carlise match is not even on there! Jesus, and they wonder why they have only sold 2000 tickets!"
That is another own goal, and I think Andy Poole has slipped up there in my opinion. But then again. it has been in the local media, especially since Saturday and in the matchday programme on Saturday. No point in blaming the official site, apart from people who live outside of the midlands and who couldn't make the match on Saturday.
Sheff, I don't think me and you have ever agreed about anything have we? lol. Steve Corica, Colin Lee and now tickets...

living 60 miles away from the bescot and getting home at six from work makes tues night games a real bugger. still, my dad bro and i have had season tickets for seven years and my dad was a regular for the preveous 25 years. we go to about 12 away games a season and fork out loads of money on stuff like shirts and car park passes each season, so excuse us if not everybody can make every game.

4600 a good turnout considering thats 4 home games in 10 days. Carlisle is the least attractive fixture available. Look at the other crowds, ours was one of the best.

5.30 Saturday I am reliably informed, hull.

Soccer AM said it was on there on Saturday morning, 11.30.
By Jorge14 (195.93.34.10) on Thursday, August 14, 2003 - 09:02 am: Edit
That's probably the LDV, Stu, as that is normally on a Saturday morning on Soccer Am. And the star say it's live on Sky at 5.30, presumably on Soccer Saturday.
By Stu (212.137.33.208) on Thursday, August 14, 2003 - 10:56 am: Edit
Nope, SoccerAM said it was definitely the Carling Cup draw...
So somebody is wrong.

I'll check last nights star...
"Lee is hopeful of concluding a deal for a defender before Saturday's first away game of the season at Coventry, and after that match all eyes will be on Sky TV for the television 5.30pm draw."
Express and Star, Walsall edition back page, penultimate paragraph.

I'm not saying your wrong, I'm not arguing, I'm just repeating what SoccerAM said... Prove your point with them, not with me...
By Blimey (213.122.176.205) on Thursday, August 14, 2003 - 12:36 pm: Edit
When did SoccerAm say it? It ain't been on since June.
By Stu (212.137.33.208) on Thursday, August 14, 2003 - 12:57 pm: Edit
Or whatever that bleedin football programme is on Sky on a Saturday morning then, jeez... I'm only repeating what I saw with my own eyes. I never said they were right, just repeated what was said. 11.30am Saturday morning.
I don't give a toffee whether its Saturday morning, afternoon, evening or whether its made live on Sky or in my next door neighbours garden whilst he is singing along to Meatloaf.
