Milton Keynes Dons, League One Tue Oct 17, 7.45pm

Mon Oct 16, 2017 2:23 pm

Is there poetry in the parking lot?
In the grid like lines of Milton Keynes?
... Is there poetry amid the reeking refuse and overflowing bins?

(Milton Keynes - Mina Harker)

The sword of Damocles which has been hovering over Jon Whitney's worried brow dropped a couple of notches lower after the home game with Blackpool from which, by all reports, we were fortunate to emerge with one point. What we need, therefore, is a match against opposition in a poor run of form and deprived of a key player or two ..... and here they are, in the form of Milton Keynes Dons! Influential on-loan midfielder Aaron Tshibola (from the Vile) was sent off after 5 minutes against Bradford City, and of course they don't have Paul Downing to call upon as he is at Blackburn Rovers until next May. Recent League One form for the Franchise:

16 Sep Rochdale (H) Won 3-2
22 Sep A F C Wimbledon (A) Won 0-2
26 Sep Northampton Town (H) Drew 0-0
30 Sep Bury (A) Won 0-2
7 Oct Bradford City (H) Lost 1-4
14 Oct Portsmouth (A) Lost 2-0

We are currently only 2 points behind the Dons in the table, with an identical goal difference (-5). Their goalscoring record this season is less than sensational (12 scored in 13 League One games), so we might entertain the idea of this elusive animal called "a clean sheet". There, however, lies a major problem - we are conceding almost 2 goals per game, in fact we've leaked the same number as Plymouth Argyle, for heaven's sake! The defence simply HAS to be shored up, and it would surely help if our most potent scoring threats could be given free rein for 90 minutes, rather than the cameo appearances seen recently.

I won't expand further, as my post-operative situation is even now telling me that I'm all feak and weeble ..... let's have a good old-fashioned "smash & grab" away performance - a result of 0-1 (Tyler Roberts) with Gillespie saving a penalty in the 93rd minute. :D

1 - 0 MK Dons. Tyler Roberts to fail to score in the 5 minutes he gets at the end of the game to make a difference.

We ALL know that Baky will be there again, doing sod all for 90 minutes (again). We will lose 1-0 to a 5th minute penalty.
The Dongs celebrate a 'return to form' against a very strong (my arse) hard to beat (haha) team. Whitney will wax lyrical about "effort and enthusiasm" as we slip another couple of places toward the zone.

1-2 away win to the Saddlers.

BBC to be accused of happy clapping and being Whitney's mate for reporting the result.

Huh? What is? For comically highlighting the massive over-reaction?
We've just played the top 5 = happy clapper
We played well at Oxford = Whitney's mate

Gibberish.

I would accept a Rotheram style drubbing if it meant the end for Whitney and a fresh start.

Fair comment, your opinion - but deviating from the results and performances and the sad act attempts (by some) to try and fashion further atrocities out of various peripheral bollocks is, to quote Dave 'desperate'. If he's that bad then the results will speak for themselves, but judging by some of the comments, the mere ability for the bloke to tie his own shoelaces is brought under question.

You have to judge fairly, and I'd be equally vocal if anyone brought up a string of triumphs as the benchmark if we had consecutively played the bottom five.

Err, I'm actually highlighting the fact that there's been a massive over-reaction (by some) to anyone stating anything but Whitney out rhetoric. We have just played the top five, he did attract universal acclaim after the Oxford game, but merely stating such facts is construed as wanting Whitney to stay until the end of his contract and that everything is fantastic. No-one's ever said anything of the sort.

Again, when you actually watch it you'll understand the reaction. I don't care who we've played recently, we've only won 4 in 23 games. We play horrible football. No clean sheet this season. The in game management/changes by Whitney have been mostly awful. Looking from afar does not tell the whole story. I've honestly seen better football on a Sunday morning in Pleck.

Be absolutely honest,I know it sounds bad,but is there anyone out there who wants Walsall to lose tonight so JW gets closer to the sack,or would you rather they scrape a lucky draw? Just enough to save JW for another week.

If it meant him getting the sack tonight then I'd take a thrashing. It won't though so I obviously want us to win.

Personally I'd rather we won 4 - 0 every game, if you are asking what I'd like.

Can I see it happening? Obviously not. but it sums certain fans up that they would rather see us lose so that their personal moans can be justified and to see a sacking than see us win a few games and admit they were wrong.

In an ideal world I'd only accept defeat if he were to go tonight. That won't be the case so it's a must win, as all games are. I'd love JW to prove me wrong but he hasn't.

I want Walsall to win every game, end of.

However, if we did play bad and lose tonight AND it resulted in the end of this sorry episode then I'd take it as worth the short-term pain.

Morris again?

Whitney needs to watch a game from upper level to see how little Morris actually contributes

Is the man blind? delusional? (like Saigon) what does he see in this bloke that we don't? Baky is a proven failure at the job he is paid to do...so why does he persist? Answers on a postcard...........
And Kinsella? Desperation time methinks.

Luckily MK Dongs are on a bad run, and could be seen as 'nearly' as bad as us, time for another job saver draw?
I too hope so, but another Rothrum would, we hope, force Bonser and the Board into repairing the floodgates before it is too late.
