Attendance: 5,971
Seems very evenly matched according to BBC. 4 shots on target each.
68 mins Roberts on for Agyei

65 minutes ... time for some "fresh legs" ????? :D
A mere minute later, we have a Walsall substitution ........ Tyler Roberts replaces Daniel Agyei !!
Sloppies yellow card, 70 minutes (Ogogo foul on Joe Edwards)
Walsall yellow card, 75 minutes (Bakayoko)

Great result.
Mass suicides outside Morrison's should be put on hold for at least another week.

Apparently it should have happened in August. :D
I wonder what the tipping point will be. Perhaps he'll fail to hold the door for someone or wear odd socks. :x

Win, draw or lose. That was awful.
Long ball which bypassed Ozzy all game. Terrible. A moment of magic from Agyei and that's all we had. Another penalty too. Shocking. Whitney is shocking.
This is worse football than us under Hutchings.
Kory Roberts was absolutely outstanding. Deserved his MOTM award.
Good result yes, but a terrible terrible performance. If you like boring uninspiring ineffective hoof ball ... keep Whitney in. I don't though.

Another entertaining end to end game at the banks's
Certainly getting your money's worth this year and it seems to me like attendances are improving can't remember the positiveness of the crowd leaving the ground like this for a while.
What a great goal by agyei Whitney did a fantastic job in persuading him to come to us at the last minute and not go elsewhere
Likewise in Ozzie and Tyler Roberts Whitney has managed to attract probably the best 2 players in the league in those positions
Special mention for Cory Roberts absolutely superb credit Whitney for bringing him through the ranks and giving him his chance
Tactically Whitney played a masterstroke today in going back to a back 3 and nullifying Payne getting the out ball to the wide men a Shrewsbury fan with me today said that that has been their strength this year and that this was paynes worse game
Whitney has managed to do what 9 other managers haven't and at least matched hurst, the manager at the top of tge league, tactically.
Uts

Re: Shrewsbury Town (H) League One, 7th Oct 3pm
A good tight local derby which produced the right result . We were much more solid than of late and three at the back worked well. I would stick with that system and the same personnel for the next few games. Kory was very good but both Guthrie and Wilson had good games too. The problem with the system with the two big lads up front means that Ozzie doesn't get into the game so much. Hopefully we start with Tyler as one of the two in future games. It was noticeable how much we improved when he came on and Ozzie's game improved to.
Shrewsbury were workmanlike and difficult to break down but I would be surprised if they finish in the top two....mind you I said that about Burton!!!

If Walsall only played home games they wouldn't be far off top 6.
Criticise Whitney all you like but Bradford, Peterbrough, Charlton and Sloppies have all come to Bescot and none have won. Some of those teams will be finishing in the play offs this season.
Sadly the away form is very much bottom 6 and that's the key, how do you get the players to perform at the same level away from the West Midlands?
Good to see the strikers are scoring regularly aswell, Agyei and Tyler Roberts (I thought he was with Wales under 21s?) have nearly as many already as Baka and Jackson managed whole of last season which says something.
Should Guthrie have been sent off? I thought handling by the line was a clear red card.

Where do you sit mate? Behind me it was chants of whitney out as I was walking out.
Weird one today - was expecting a win or draw so I’m not disappointed. Just disappointed to see hoof ball being played - so annoying and frustrating.
Great goal mind.
Shrewsbury weren’t as attractive to watch as Peterborough however both aren’t great. Would be interesting to see if Shrews do manage to go up...if so it will define a poor division AGAIN.

I thought that Shrewsbury were nothing special and quite easily there for the taking. The reason we play hoofball is that the midfield is so ineffective. If I was Morris I'd be a tad confused, one week JW is telling everyone that he is a left winger and the next playing him in centre midfield. I understand why, as Chambers was out but that rather calls into question the summer transfer dealings when Osbourne wasn't replaced. We have a perennially injured CM, a young CM coming back from a season long injury, a CM who was bought as a full back and a 37 year old.

Agree it was awful, but a good draw considering we were only playing with 8 men. Morris and Baka are awful and should be nowhere near a League 1 club let alone be playing and Ozzy was awful due to nursing his sore neck.
Roberts is a star, for someone so young and inexperienced he reads the game like a seasoned Pro, I bet Uncle Jeff can see the ££££ signs.

In the grand scheme of things it was a good result. I am relatively happy with the draw. I am however shocked that some people are happy to watch such ineffective attacking football. Long ball after long ball which bypassed one of the best players on the pitch. Clueless football.

Have Roberts and Agyei actually started together yet?
Seems obvious to me given both can actually score and are different types of striker.

Yes SCOTT I was entertained by a good combative game played at great pace but with defences on top. I remember many games like that over the years under managers like Nichol and Graydon. It would have been 1-0 without a defensive mix up which caused the penalty which sometimes happens in a game. I wish we could have won but from now on we should have a full squad to use from unless we have injuries and as I have said many times before this season could go either way.

I wish i was easily pleased as you. I thought we were dross in terms of attacking. Solid at the back though.

Today proved that JW has completely stripped this club of the positive footballing identity we only recently had. Not good enough. Whitney Out.

Re: Shrewsbury Town (H) League One, 7th Oct 3pm
I had no idea what the result would be before the game and it could have gone either way so I suppose a draw is a fair result.
I hate the long ball but in fairness to JW he had a game plan and it worked. As already mentioned we nearly nicked it with a 1-0 and prevented them from scoring in open play. The fact is that the Shrews manager, who is on a roll at the moment, did not out fox our manager today which can't be a bad thing.

Re: Shrewsbury Town (H) League One, 7th Oct 3pm
I really enjoyed it to be honest. It was tough stuff, ugly stuff but that's what Derby in the third division should look and feel like.
They brought a crowd, they made some noise, they even brought smoke and it felt like the biggest home crowd of the season too.
Kory Roberts was superb, Oztumer anonymous in that type of game, but that's no excuse for his poor delivery from set-pieces.
Great goal for us and this week it was the 18th minute when we decided to give the pen away. Guthrie was all at sea in the lead up to it. Then the ref was all at sea after he gave it. Once he's given the pen, he has to send the defender off there. Hand ball has to be deliberate and if you have adjudicated on a hand ball against a defender in that position it has to be red, whether you like the double jeopardy of it or not.
Anyway, blood and thunder, not very pretty but apart from the pitch being very green that was the sort of game against these from thirty or forty years ago.
