Seriously? Unbelievably well-paid professional athletes are a bit tired so they need a break. While I wouldn't want it, notice how there's no worries about the lower leagues though - because it's all about the Premier League of course. And here's why:
"The Premier League is considering introducing a winter break when the next television rights deal is agreed. The Football Association has previously said a winter break is not feasible until the end of the current television deal in 2019."
"An announcement on the next Premier League TV rights is expected next week. The league is seeking an increase on the current £5.14bn deal"
Another reason why I strongly dislike the Premier League, it's mentality and what TV deals in general have turned football into. Tail wagging the dog.
Premier League Winter Break
The place for all general topics not related to the Saddlers, plus the ever-popular Prediction League. Keep it fun.

Re: Premier League Winter Break
Let's just give the players their £100,000 per week , and tell 'em not to bother playing AT ALL.
They moan about playing two games per week. The fact is , they don't.
Wayne Rooney, whom I guess was as busy as most, playing in the prem, the cup, Europe and Internationals , played on average less than 39 games per season .
Frank Lampard , equally occupied I assume , played even less , about 32 per season.
What happens if they have four weeks off from the 21st of Dec ( as Bundesliga ) , and we then have arctic conditions in February ? They'll be frigging moaning again .

Having said all that , if I had to work Saturday's and a few nights , I'd want an extra few quid in me wage packet .

If it comes to fruition, the clubs will just bugger off to Dubai or Australia & play in mini-tournaments. For a cack load of cash, of course.........

I don't really give a monkeys what they do in the prem as long as they don't impose it on us.

They did the damage when they stole all the TV money and imposed football austerity on the rest of us. The rest is just puffery.

@ Canadian & Exile:
I wasn't suggesting that they'd play the locals, however Man U vs. Liverpool, or Bayern vs. Chelsea would fill the Westpac or ANZ!

True. There's plenty of plastic fans down here. All of them ask which 'other' team I support. They then get a lecture on why I hate the premier league.
