Question for Exile.......................

..........forgive my ignorance Exile , but what is the "take" of your fellow countrymen on the current problems facing Aussie cricket ?

Any sympathy , or what ?

Not really any sympathy. Most comments down here are along the lines of ‘they’ve been doing it for years’, mixed with ‘ban the lot’. The trans-Tasman rivalry is as strong as usual (like England vs France, but less acrimony). The usual memes got circulated. Look up the Alternative Commentary Collective on Facebook for some typical NZ views and humour on sport (cricket bias).

I was thinking who is assured and what places are up for grabs considering this torrid winter for the test in May against Pakistan, with very little time for any first class cricket.

Cook
??? (Hameed,Stoneman)
???(Livingstone, Vince)
Root
Malan
Stokes
Bairstow
Broad
Wood
???(Leach, Ali)
Anderson

Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

Stuffed 'em at netball.

Well done gals, lol.

Hope there was no tampering with balls.

Cook has now said that England had suspicions during the Ashes, but no more than that. Funny that two teams should have suspected before the "one and only "time Smith said it happened.

Imagine. Although I’d have thought at least one bored sports reporter would have watched every frame of Australia fielding in the Ashes by now.

I recall a quote that an amazing number of convict fielders had injuries requiring tape on hands (at mid-off and mid-on) in the winter. My take would be that caution went to the wind when they realised that SA were about to beat them, hence the tape+grit/sandpaper. The sooner they dispose of the inadequate Kookaburra pile of cack and use the Duke ball that gives the bowler a chance until 35-40 overs the better. Suppose that its connected to the money though?

Absolutely incredible stuff from the Aussies. They’re sorry he got caught, not for what he was doing. They’ve always been the same.
