Re: Cast your vote........
It may be relevant to quote the words of the song composed by Michael Flanders and Donald Swann way back in the 1960's, entitled "Misalliance"......
The fragrant honeysuckle spirals clockwise to the sun.
And many other creepers do the same;
But some climb anti-clockwise, the bindweed does, for one,
Or convolvulous, to give her proper name.
Rooted on either side a door, one of each species grew
And raced towards the window ledge above;
Each corkscrewed to the lintel in the only way it knew
Where they stopped, touched tendrils, smiled, and fell in love.
Said the right-handed honeysuckle to the left-handed bindweed
"Oh let us get married, if our parents don't mind, we'd
Be loving and inseparable, inextricably entwined, we'd
Live happily ever after" said the honeysuckle to the bindweed.
To the honeysuckle's parents it came as a shock,
"The bindweeds" they cried "are inferior stock,
They're uncultivated, of breeding bereft,
WE twine to the right, and THEY twine to the left.
Said the left-handed bindweed to the right-handed honeysuckle,
"We'd better start saving, many a mickle mak's a muckle,
Then run away for a honeymoon and hope that our luck'll
Take a turn for the better" said the bindweed to the honeysuckle.
A bee who was passing remarked to them then
"I've said it before, and I'll say it again,
Consider your offshoots, if offshoots there be,
They'll never receive an y blessing from me".
Poor little sucker, how will it learn,
Where it is climbing and which way to turn?
Right ..... Left ..... what a disgrace,
Or it may go straight up and fall flat on its face!
Said the right-hand thread honeysuckle to the left-hand thread bindweed
"It seems that against us all fate has combined"
Oh my darling, oh my darling, oh my darling columbine,
Thou are lost and gone for ever, we shall never intertwine.
Together they found them the very next day,
They had pulled up their roots and just shrivelled away,
Deprived of that freedom for which we must fight,
To veer to the left or to veer to the right!
:D

Many apologies for my overlooking the Greens - I can't see a way to edit the selections either ... Let's have an understanding that "Independent" really means "Green Party"

I'm still loffing / gurning over the astonishingly bitter fascist blaming immigrunts, teachers and nurses for the forthcoming 'civil war' on a certain social media platform (not Carl, I should point out).

Out of touch with reality and more like student politics, naïve, clichéd and with a whiff of illegal substances. Should have joined the badminton club Exy rather than snap up all those free balloons, posters and badges handed out by those bearded grib grobs with Che Guevara T shirts and smelling slightly of Old Spice.
I don't now why anyone would vote for the Labour Party unless they promised to bring back the 'good old days' of the sixties and seventies :D

Re: Cast your vote........
I've voted for Stafflers because it's a tradition thing in our family.
Fathers, sons, grandfathers, great grandfathers, uncles and the women too since they had the vote and were told who to vote for.
Our family have always voted Stallers and it saves us having to follow politics and all the crappage that goes with politics if we know who to vote for.
I'm confident they are a party who can lead us into exiting anything we're part of - maybe NATO next? - and will speed up the filling in of the Channel Tunnel so we can once more stand alone and proud.
Actually if there was a party whose leaders were always saying OMG and "innit" and using the F word every few seconds and pretend fanning themselves and always texting and tindering etc I'd vote for them.

Hate to interject on another mesmerising rant, but wot's Shari law? A legal system based around something Sharon from HR dreamt up?
Anyway, I'm fascinated to learn how this, or indeed any other religious doctrine, will be imposed by Labour on the British electorate.
The remainder devolves into the usual unsubstantiated drivel, but thanks for the LOff! :D

And this from the 6th largest economy in the world ... It's almost as if there is an unfair and massively disproportionate distribution of wealth. :?
But you've already accepted that it's your kids that are going to have to pay off debt for years to come.
As the corporations and to a lesser extent the very wealthy continue to evade their share of tax.

i was a member of the Labour Party in the 80's and I did a lot of campaigning door to door because I believed in them, but I lost faith in tony Blair and the one eyed Scottish idiot, and when Cameron announced that if he got in he would give us a vote on leaving Europe I jumped at it and thought I would use it as a stepping stone until the next general election, and go back to voting labour, unfortunately I now find that they are being lead by another idiot. So I am more inclined to vote Tory again and suffer the unfairness of the tax system for another 5 years until labour get a leader that is a credible and vote worthySaigonSaddler wrote:chunkster wrote:ye but the pensioners will be looked after, and any debt they rack up will be left for our kids to pay off in years to come :mrgreen:Ancient Moaner wrote:Are some folk ACTUALLY going to vote Labour! That reads that because can't bring yourself to vote Corbyn, you will reluctantly vote tory knowing the genuine hurt that will bring you and yours.
Have you read the self-servative manifesto? Dementia tax, the end to free school meals, a continuation of social cuts? All uncosted of course allowing for future inroads and more division.
There are other alternatives, including exercising your right not to choose.

In the interests of accuracy, we're back to being the 5th largest economy by some margin [large] after the minor blip suffered during the aftermath of the referendum when the sheep were scattering in utter panic. Well done Teresa May for looking after the countries finances and making sure that hard working families are rewarded. :D It's a good job the nasty, dishonest and utterly unelectable Labour party aren't making unrealistic promises to take us back to the seventies when everything was hunky dory as they used to say down t'pit.

Which makes it even worse. We're clearly raking in huge amounts, and can allegedly make it on our own with ease, but can't provide a functional NHS, or even look after the elderly, and opportunistically sell off our assets to, sharp intake of breath - foreign types, while passing on the costs to the poor.
Britain needs a change. The tories aren't it.

in that case I won't be voting at all, the torys are riding rough shod over us because they think that they have already won, labour are fudged with corbyn in charge. Has anyone worked out which party, if they got the second most elected MPs could scupper the Tory majority like the lib dems did a few years ago? So there could be some tactical voting to be done :mrgreen:SaigonSaddler wrote:chunkster wrote:SaigonSaddler wrote:chunkster wrote:ye but the pensioners will be looked after, and any debt they rack up will be left for our kids to pay off in years to come :mrgreen:Ancient Moaner wrote:Are some folk ACTUALLY going to vote Labour! Re: Cast your vote........
Unfortunately it seems that a section of conservative voters appear to be star struck with the thought that May is the reincarnation of Thatcher again despite all the evidence pointing to the fact that she is anything but. Its the cult of personality rather than the use of critical analysis to arrive at an informed decision. Must be a tribal thing.
