I've been quite lax in the past 2 years catching a lot of new films, but I'm going to make the effort to start watching some again, anyone got any recommendations from recent films?
No Michael Bay cack please.

Re: Film recommendation thread
Depends what you classify as "recent" ... I tend to be behind the times on film releases, and I've only just seen "The Imitation Game" for the first time - Benedict Cumberbatch takes the leading role, it's the story of Alan Turing the Cambridge mathematician and the efforts of him and his team to break the German "Enigma" code during WWII, at Bletchley Park.
I think the film was released a couple of years ago and I must confess I found it very much to my liking, based as it is on events that actually happened (with perhaps a permitted degree of artistic licence taken in the telling). I got it on DVD from one of the usual sources, and the added bonus for me is that is has accurate sub-titles!!! :D

I'd say recent to you really, because we all miss films when they come out then you'll come across it years later. Example for me was it took me 3 years to get round to watching Fury when my mates would have thought I would have been there opening night.

Re: Film recommendation thread
Movies I've watched and enjoyed lately.
They're probably a few years old by now.
Approximate titles only as I'm too lazy to look them up....
Life on the road - Ricky Gervais - was ok.
Lady in a van - Maggie Smith - was ok.
Sully - the Hudson River plane landing - was reasonable
I'd look at the IMDB list of the best movies and work through that if you're in doubt

It's a physiological horror and a social commentary on liberal racism in America.
Very highly rated and rightfully so.
