I'm very surprised how little attention this has gotten. To me its massive, and like you said, opens up so many questions.
Yet I never saw it get higher than 12th on Twitters trending.

A measure of quick fix news and instant gratification. This is tremendous, but lacks any closure in the short term.
Pragmatically, I'd be amazed if they discover evidence of life. .
