Re: Southend United (A) 18th Mar, 3pm
Cracking 1st half. Markus looking good, working hard. Etheridge distribution woeful to begin with slowly improved. He made one good save. Moussa 2 good chances buried.
We are better than them on the deck, they have a real aerial threat.
Referee is a tool, as usual...

A nice surprise so far...Moussa playing in his best position presumably behind the front man. Two assists by Edwards according to the BBC...he has turned out to be a good signing !

Oztumer goes off to be replaced by fat Franck and everyone thinks game over, not without reason...then that happens!
What can you say really?! Its a bloody funny old game!

Southend substitution - some chap called Jason Demetriou comes on .....
Yellow card for Southend's Ryan Inniss
Rochdale 3 Gillingham 1
Oxford Utd 1 Scunthorpe Utd 1
M K Dons 1 Coventry City 0 (obviously)
Southend make their 2nd substitution - Jon Whitney sticking to the same line-up that ended the 1st half (55 min)
Bolton Wanderers 0 Northampton Town 1 (60 min)

Ref gave a bollocks free kick, we were half asleep and forgot to defend. It could go anyway now. Markris has faded, swap him for Baka. He'll be useful to defend the barage that will surely come..

Re: Southend United (A) 18th Mar, 3pm
70 minutes, and Southend have just had their 6th corner (we've had none) - it looks as though the kitchen sink is being thrown in our direction.......
Kitchen sink landed - it's now 2-2 :( :(
Bradford City 0 Swindon Town 1
Bolton Wanderers have equalised at home to Northampton Town, it's now 1-1 (Le Fondre pen.)

Ref is throwing everything at it. He's giving them free kicks left, right and centre and giving us nothing.

Re: Southend United (A) 18th Mar, 3pm
Walsall substitution on 79 minutes - too little, too late? (Bakayoko on for Makris)
Two minutes later, another Walsall sub comes on ...... (Morris replaces Moussa)
And a Walsall yellow card on 81 minutes to liven things up still further ..... (O'Connor)
And we promptly go 3-2 down .......    - direct from a free kick :( :(
Southend's 2nd yellow card on 84 minutes

Re: Southend United (A) 18th Mar, 3pm
Why is it we read how much work we put into set pieces in training yet the vast majority of the goals we concede are from set pieces!!!!!!!
I reckon we have a fundamental problem (phsycologically) - there can't be any other explanation..
2 goal advantage wiped out by crap set piece defending :(

Very late goal at Oxford sees Scunthorpe 2-1 down there (90 min)
We have our very first corner, in the 94th minute!!!!! - - all to no avail, as we lose 3-2 at full time.

Bottlers the lot of them.
Whitney can fudge off. Back to the form before Christmas now. Sort it out.

Southend were able to bring on 3 excellent substitutes and they probably made the difference. It shows what we have to do in the Summer if we wish to get closer to the top.

Re: Southend United (A) 18th Mar, 3pm
The great momentum built up in recent weeks has now been lost and the last 2 defeats against teams equally looking to progress has shown us what we are lacking - firstly a decent striker and secondly, a leadership player that can galvanise those around him
Don't want to be too downbeat as recent weeks had been very positive and enjoyable but frankly, that's the playoffs officially out of reach as far as I can see...
The club needs to sort out our forward threat problem - we ain't got one!!!

Ridiculous comment - overall JW has turned our season around in the last 3 months.. once he got his best team selection sorted, we have been hard to beat...
We know we have areas of weakness but overall, we are not good enough to get promoted this season!

Whitney is a great physiotherapist.
Whitney is a poor to average manager.
Sooner people get that into their thick skulls the better.
I can take losses but not after being 2-0 up. Absolutely shocking to lose from that position under any management.

Yes truly ridiculous. Perhaps Scott will hire a plane to tow a "Fudge Off Whitney" banner over the Bezzla at the next home match like those Arsenal knobheads.
