Re: Chesterfield (H) Tuesday Mar 7th, 7.45pm
went for carvery at the stadium tonight which was still on despite the match being off
the main road past the ground was like a swimming pool and the grass verges were sodden.
I spoke to a few people connected to club and they said the ball wasn't rolling down the right hand side towards away end
I think it was correct decision albeit it if it was 9 0clock kick off probably would have gone ahead.
food was marvellous and got to see the Walsall team after they ate their tea and couldn't resist shouting goal side to morris.
roy whalley was suggesting next Tuesday 7th march for re arranged match awaiting official confirmation

My prediction was the most accurate. Do I win £5?

Well pigged off!
Set off from Cambridgeshire at 4:45. M6 was a right mess tipping it down and 30mph all the way from Coventry until I got off at Junction 7. Which is when I heard on WM that the game was off
Had a meal in the Bell and had to wait 20 mins for me pudding.
Drove back in the pouring rain all the way. (not much traffic though) :D
Roll on Saturday

We had a similar carry on once. Drove down for a night game (think it was in the Mullen season, maybe v Swindon?). Left Kendal around 4, only just made it to Walsall for about 7.30, parked behind the RAC building, then got told on our walk to the ground it was off. Nothing on the radio telling us earlier.
Straight back up the M6

Tickets already purchased for the original date are valid for March 7th, and any tickets purchased for that original date will be fully refunded if ticket holders are unable to make the re-arranged date.

Re: Chesterfield (H) Tuesday Mar 7th, 7.45pm
tomorrow sees a good chance to get the 3 points we need to more or less confirm our league status for another season.
with this is mind is it soon time to experiment with team a little or do people think we have an outside chance of play offs?
I personally think were probably 3 wins short unless we win 9 out of the last 11 and we don't win away very often these days so realistically I think we could win 5 or 6 of our last 11 games which would probably see us around 10th or 9th.
with etheridge not looking like signing is it time to put craig in goal makris up front and maybe give randall a run out in the last 10 matches.

We should play our known strongest team. No experimenting just yet. That is to say the same line up as Saturday subject to injuries. If Preston is available bench him for Kory Roberts. Until the play offs are impossible we must pitch for them whatever the improbability. To do otherwise is unprofessional and the product of an unhelpful negative mindset.

Not much interest being shown in tonight's match then? Probably because the dream is more or less over, following our defeat at the Wombles (however, their recent form shows that their win was no fluke!).
Expect a poor gate when compared to Saturday.
A win would make things very interesting, we would then be just below the play off places, but as PT put it we would have to win 11 of our remaining matches, whilst everyone else above us lost!
Still, keep on believing, you never know (just don't blow it tonight!)

I still think we have had a brilliant season considering what happened last year - losing our best players. If we were in a relegation scrap, our current position would look like heaven. Still, like all supporters, I do have a desire to see us in the playoffs, however remote the possibility. So, we just have to keep on winning. I'd rather be us than Chesterfield (or Shrewsbury or Bury or...etc etc). After we beat Chesterfield, perhaps it would be a good time to give extended runs to some of the younger players and some of the hopefuls like Makris. We could do worse.

Don't lose the faith!
Win tonight sees us just 7 points behind Bradford. Both having played the same number of games. And we still have to play them. :D
Just don't anyone tell me what the bunch of bottlers did at their place last season. The team we have now are quite capable of keeping a clean sheet and snatching a late winner. Look at the number of games sir Ray won 1-0 when getting us promoted. :D

What we need to avoid tonight.
128 seconds of Swindon vs Chesterfield highlights.
Contains 120 seconds of Swindon attacking without quality. And 8 seconds of Chesterfield scoring from a poorly defended cross.

We are a country mile better than Swindon. Let's hope we prove that this evening.

Starting line-up against Chesterfield:
Etheridge
O'Connor
O'Connell
Laird
McCarthy
Morris
Chambers
Osbourne
Edwards
Oztumer
Jackson
Substitutes: MacGillivray, Dobson, Preston, Randall-Hurren, Bakayoko, Makris, Moussa
No Ched Evans for Chesterfield (starting or bench), but Ebanks-Blake starts. Stuckmann (6 feet 5 inches) starts between the sticks, so watch us pump high crosses in for our midgets.........

When we lost 2-0 back in August at their place Ebanks-Blake didn't play (not even on their bench) - those 2 goals came from Evans, and he's nowhere to be seen tonight - here's hoping!!!! :D

Half-time and it's 0-0. My "less than 2.5 goals" bet looks quite safe

Mentioned in commentary that Simeon Jackson has gone 23 games without scoring. Assume this is true. He will doubtless now score but I would give Makris a go ( for more than 6 or 7 minutes anyway)

Alternative facts.
He scored against Bristol Rovers the other week.

No substitutes to start the second half with as we revel in our 0-0 with one of the bottom clubs.
