Its a shame tonight was not more convincing but we did what we have failed to do many times in the past and ground out the three points - something we were all screaming for at times last season.

Anyone think Scunny are catchable?

Haven't won in about 6 weeks and have a look at their next month of fixtures....very difficult home and away.

6 home wins on the trot. That's excellent a massive well done to Whitney. Another good season we're having. We have some kind fixtures coming up and opportunities to play those around us. Leicester won the premiership last season - anything possible!

just got back in

normally sit behind the goal in lower but sat in main stand tonight as we were eating.

was good to see a different perspective on match and feel closer to the pitch.
wasn't the best game of footy ive ever seen but a great win and now we look like we could finish in top 10 which would be a great achievement from where we started this season.

just a mention last week we booked a carvery which we still had despite the calling off
tonight for no extra money the club put on a lovely hot buffet and coffee and cakes
then at half time they dished up lovely soup with rolls.

a lovely touch from the club at no extra cost to us well done Walsall fc on and off the pitch

Trouble is JW is likely to win Manager of the month and it will all go tits up.

Not a great performance to be fair, against extremely limited opposition. A win's a win though. 6 on the trot at home can't be argued against. Haven't got the firepower to get in the play off's.

Much better than against Oldham. We should have won by 4 or 5 easily !! O'Connell again my motm.
Think we owed Caldwell that after last season. Keep the season alive lads and get those 3 pts at Charlton

Chesterfield were very poor as their position in the table indicates and we should have won by more than the one goal. I think the Manager could have introduced some fresh legs from the start tonight as one or two of our players were clearly struggling especially our key man McCarthy who was not anywhere near his best however we never looked like conceding and a few more one nils we do just fine. JW's tactic of playing our strikers at wingback/fullback is working a treat!

Ancient Moaner is right. We do need a twenty goal plus striker. Whitney is useless there are loads of 20 goal strikers we could have got in January. I'm amazed we never bid for Billy Sharpe.

When we got automatic promotion under Ray Graydon in 1998/99 season 13 of the 26 games we won were 1-0.

Blimey, we made hard work of that.

Several not at their best. Says it all when against the worst side I've seen, our MoTM was really a choice between all the defensive players, and perhaps Osbourne.

Forget the play-offs, our away form is dreadful. We are where we are, which is a more than decent return with a novice manager and new playing staff.

Six on the spin, and winning when not at our best are really good signs. We've ridden our luck at times, but hard-work rewards (apparently). Fair play WFC.

Must say Whitney's substitutions are getting much better and decisive. Agreed with all three. Is Dobson out of contract at West Ham in the summer? Will need to practise shooting with his left-foot though, he should have killed the game last night, he'd done all the hard work

And with that we're over the 50pt mark!! Now we can start looking up the table :D

Can we close the 6pt gap to Millwall? Big ask. When did they last lose? 9pts to Scunny? Even with their current form that's a huge gap. Still, over the moon that we're still able to have these discussions with 10 games to go.

At the end of 2016 I was in the "give Whitney til Christmas" camp but going into the new year I was leaning towards getting rid. Really happy that things have started clicking now though. In a sport where managers are hired and fired with impunity it's good to say Walsall aren't so fickle, even if it makes for a rough ride at times. Going from clueless to 6 home wins on the bounce is massive. Lets hope the steep learning curve continues!!

Off to the Fishy Calculator!! UTS!!

Another win and safety reached but why do we make such hard work of it.
WE controlled most of the game and made lots of chances but yet again was toothless with the goal coming from a defender as usual.
Why is Jackson an automatic choice every game he has poor ball control even worse heading ability and finds new ways to get offside every match.
I know he is probably not the answer and has many critics but Makris did more in his 10 min cameo than Jackson did all game why does he not get a chance.

I think the club hoped that Makris would be the answer to our goal shortage and he may well be.But not yet.
