[quote="Welsh_Saddler"]Looking at those two goals.....some people might dismiss the first one as merely a hopeful lob from distance, but Oztumer was only able to get the ball because he anticipated what the Swindon player was going to do. Their throw-in must have gone backwards (for them) by about 15 yards before being played along the floor along the touchline (forward this time). At that moment Oztumer started his run because he banked on an infield pass being made. It was, he intercepted it at the same time as noting that Vigoroux was off his line. Absolutely brilliant.
The second goal, what can you say? We've had so many people on here saying "we don't want hoofball", but I tell you what - if hoofball can be linked to the Oztumer level of skill that he displayed in volleying that one in, I'll take hoofball any day. That lofted pass from (Toner?) must have been all of 45 yards, and yet Oztumer timed his run so perfectly as to meet the ball coming over his shoulder and gently volley it past the keeper. I remember seeing Trevor Francis do the same thing years ago when he was at his peak, but Oztumer's was on the end of a much longer supply ball.
One thing is for certain....tippy-tappy sideways/backwards/sideways tippy-tappy football never produced a goal like that! :D
Absobloodylutely!!!! So good to see a Walsall side actually scoring good/clever goals, lucky tap in's and in off's had become the norm....both of those goals MUST be considered for goal of the season in the 3rd Division at least.
Glad that my early season cheerleading of the eventual quality of this squad is coming to fruition. UTS always

Credit to the coaching staff who are clearly turning things around.
UTS
Isn't it more fact that the players are getting more used to each other, and there is now a more settled team?Same back 4 in the last 4 games has to have an effect on the stability of the whole team.
There is still lots to do, but we are definitely getting better.
Yea the back four is more settled, the signings of Laird and Toner and also moving Mcarthy to right back are management decisions??
So yes they deserve praise.

Only once - he had the whole 90 minutes at Northampton Town on 10th September.

Two absolutely brilliant goals, and by the looks of it we could have scored a few more
Makris was unlucky to hit the bar, think someone earlier in the thread suggested miss of the season... But to be fair to him, he had the ball in the middle if their half, passed it on, then bust a gut to get in the box, it was just unlucky the ball was slightly behind him and not in front. This is one thing that is most frustrating when watching us in recent years, when the ball gets played out wide no one seems to be making a run into the box, but Makris did that on that occasion and if he continues to do it I'm sure he'll start scoring.

It was obvious to anyone with half a brain it would take a while for everything to come together. Virtually a totally new team, a new manager and a new dawn at the club. Yet we still have fans calling for the managers head after a bad result. It's interesting to note how many posters see the 'worst performance since they started going' at least three times a season! So fickle.
We are probably still a long way from where JW wants us to be, but I really think some people should give it 24 hours grace before jumping behind their keyboard. Great win, great goals, inspired signing by the manager. This season will be mid table at best; some good performances, some bad! Deal with it!
Just seen this on the Swindon board;
Why on earth do they think he would want to go there!? The whole notion the mighty Robins, on the way to League 2 could swoop and pick up one of the players of the Division thus far is just.....

Two real pieces of quality for both Walsall goals. First, that shot was superb. Second, that pass was superb. If we can shift Kasim and put a bid in for that Oztumer in January I wouldn't be unhappy, he ran the show. Our heads dropped completely after the 2nd went in and we couldn't do anything right. A few of them huffed and puffed, credits to Fonz, Murray and Goddard who were at least trying but no one really played well.

Haven't posted on here for a while, but what great form we are in at the moment. Anyone being realistic before the start of the season would know it was always going to take time and be tough due to the amount of personnel we have lost. It is starting to click, but I wouldn't get too carried away. A mid table finish this season would be a fantastic achievement, we have a lot to be hopeful for. Not just Ozzy, Makris will hopefully keep plugging away and break his duck, Baka has been a breath of fresh air, Laird (if we can extend his loan or sign him) has been solid. Oh, and Jackson has been out for a couple of games, not a bad player to bring back in?
Anyone know how many we took to Swindon?
