Millwall (H) 01/10/16
After our defensive humbling against Scunthorpe, where Toner's opponent bagged a hat-trick, I believe that we should tighten up at the back against a big Millwall team.
I think that we have missed Edwards and after his suspension, I would try him alongside skip in midfield (after the Millwall match). I would put LK on the bench because he has good energy in midfield but is not a full-back and gets targeted by opposition because he is weak against backlist aerial bombardment. My team would be:
1.) NE
2.) JM
4.) J O'C
5.) MP
3.) ML
6.) IO
7.) JC
8.) MK
10.) EO
11.) AM
9.) SJ
I imagine it will be something else entirely but I'd be interested to hear other fans' thoughts because my biggest frustration has been the manager's failure to find a system that the players seem comfortable with.

Kinsella on the bench with Maz Kouhyar in midfield, just for clarification.

Re: Millwall (H) 01/10/16
Those of us who have been privileged to follow the Saddlers for many, many years will recall a demolition job we did on Millwall in 1960 or '61 (I can't be bothered to look it up) - anyway it was a 7-0 home win. That same season we beat Brentford 7-1 and Norwich City 6-3, but that's another story. I don't expect a repeat of our 7-0 result but Millwall should be a slightly different proposition than Scunthorpe, if only from the statistical viewpoint. The lions are currently 17th in the table and have conceded more League One goals than anyone else (20, as opposed to Scunthorpe's 10), and after quite a bright start to the season when they won 3 out of their first 5 games something of a slump has set in which sees them without a win in their most recent 5, with the most recent 3 games all being defeats. Recent League One form:
27 Aug Chesterfield (A) Won 1-3
3 Sep Bradford City (H) Drew 1-1
10 Sep Coventry City (H) Drew 1-1
17 Sep Southend United (A) Lost 3-1
24 Sep Rochdale (H) Lost 2-3
27 Sep Port vale (A) Lost 3-1
Danger men for Millwall are Steve Morison and Aiden O'Brien, each with 5 goals so far out of a total of 17. (EDIT - Aiden O'Brien is sidelined with a knee injury and is not expected to play) :D . An indication of how quickly a team's League One progress changes can be seen by the fact that when Millwall won that game at Chesterfield last month they were in 5th place, comfortably within the play-off zone. Something has clearly played the part of grit in their Vaseline since then, and we can only hope that Jon Whitney's team selection will further that cause.
Whitney is still without the services of Joe Edwards due to his suspension, but at least Scott Laird will be back in contention to shore up a defence that needs shoring up. Attack-wise we should be able to find Millwall's net, but even though their defence is the leakiest in League One this is Walsall we're talking about, so nothing can be taken for granted......
Prediction? I think enough rockets will have been fired in the players' direction since the Scunthorpe embarrassment, and it's about time we found out exactly what capabilities our strikers have. I'll go for a 3-1 home win, with Jackson, Makris and Bakayoko scoring - Millwall's goal to come in the 3rd minute, courtesy of an awful backpass from Toner (intercepted by Morison).

Re: Millwall (H) 01/10/16
I think that it will be a win. but only because we can't be any worse than we were last week. And the fact that whitney will have given the players probably the biggest rollicking of their fledgling careers. but it could go either way depending on whether the players WANT to play for him? if it is the former then i go for a 3-1 with makris getting his first. if it goes the other way and they really can't be arsed about whitney, then 0-3. we will see tomorrow if he still has the respect of the players or not :|

Re: Millwall (H) 01/10/16
1-1 nailed on, with our equaliser going in off their defenders bum in the 95th minute (BrightonSaddler mode!  )
Could be 7-0, 0-7, 5-5, 0-0, who could predict with this current squad?
Depends on which team turns up on what should be a wet and miserable afternoon. Millwall like Walsall have been the whipping boys of late, so I predict neither team will actually turn up at the ground, playing each other at mini-golf instead in Pleck Park in front of some OAP's in wheel chairs and some surprised 'locals' thinking this may be a strange new religious mantra for the soon-to-be unemployed. :?
Come on me babbies, lets get out of the relegation trap....pleeeease!

Starting line-up against Millwall:
Etheridge
McCarthy
Toner
O'Connor
Laird
Chambers
Dobson
Morris
Oztuma
Moussa
Jackson
Substitutes: MacGillivray, Kinsella, Preston, Ginnelly, Bakayoko, Kouhyar, Makris
So....our two recent international call-ups and our record signing only make the bench. Impact subs!!!

Maybe Kinsella and Makris were 2 of the players that he felt let him down in the week :|

Surely Villa won't dare sack the World Class Manager Di Matteo who has an excellent track record behind him.

Quick free kick from half way line and Etheridge fannying about on the edge of his box.
Looked like after his scramble back he might have got a hand to it to push it on the bar. Not sure though.

I still have no live strteam, but looking at the change in the odds I think we might be ahead 2-1 :D :D :D
Indeed we are.....but aren't we supposed to concede early in the second half? Very strange.......
Nosebleed time....as things stand we are 16th in the table !!
