Baka coming on for Dobson can't help but feel 15 minutes isn't long enough for him.
Hope he can get that bit of magic like that cross he did for jackson against wimbledon!

The useless bunch of losers only won 4-1 there last year.
Don't worry though it will be ok- according to some.

Kouhyar on for Morris, 85 min. Too little, too late - a Dean Smith-esque substitution.
In the 91st minute Chesterfield have their 10th corner. We've had one, which might tell you something about which side has been doing the attacking !!

It will be alright in the end and if it's not alright it's not the end.

That's a bit unfair, he scored twice tonight and they both seemed fair enough to me!

We seem to be playing ok/dominating...but we can't score. More of a 14/15 issue than 15/16. Hmmm. Time will tell.

The stats don't suggest any sort of domination.
But give the team time - at least 10 games or until Christmas before passing judgement (but we can still be disappointed/cheesed off at losses; I know I am) :(

Just got back..
Whoever suggested that we dominated any part of that game is completely wrong. 50/50 first half and completely outplayed and out thought second half.
In summary poor team selection , predictable tactics, poor substitutions, think I'll leave it there.

Re: Chesterfield (A) League One, Tues 16 Aug, 7.45pm
Disappointing result, but I thought the performance was decent for the first 60/70 minutes.
First half Moussa was brilliant, and he drive us forward every time he got the ball. Unlucky not to be ahead by half time.
Second half we saw less of the ball, but until 70th minute our midfield and defence were tight, and hard for them to get through, which was pleasing considering two young midfielders and a make shift back four.
Etheridge - no messing around with the ball in play like on Saturday. Made 2 great saves, the first one was superb. Second goal took a deflection over him I think. (Either that or a good finish)
McCarthy - again, did well at full back, and more comfortable on the right as you'd expect.
Preston - did what he had to until they scored. about 3 players backed off Downing style for one of the goals and should have done better
O'Connor - same as Preston.
Edwards - did very well at left back for s right footer. Best game I've seen from him.
Kinsella - as with Saturday he didn't do anything wrong all game, but was also fairly anonymous.
Dobson - a bit better than Kinsella. First half he did okay, broke up play, came deep to get the ball, few good passes, but second half didn't see a lot of the ball.
Morris - was in and out of the game. Had 3 or 4 attempts from distance but none really troubled the keeper.
Makris - first half he was sharp and was unlucky to hit the crossbar and not score. Quieter in the 2nd half.
Moussa - excellent. A step up again from Saturday. He's very confident on the ball, drives us forward and gets stuck in too. Not sure why he was first off, whether it was tactical or if he isn't fully fit yet I'm
Not sure. Exciting player though.
Jackson - he was never really in the game. First half he actually won/flicked on some of the long balls up to him, but second half he wasn't in the game. We should have either taken him off or put Bsksyoko up top with him earlier.
Disappointing yes, but an improvement on Saturdays performance I feel.

Re: Chesterfield (A) League One, Tues 16 Aug, 7.45pm
Once I saw the team didn't have Chambers or Osbourne in it I thought they'd lose. It was a YTS central midfield really, you need at least one experienced head in there.
Also a little worried the much heralded front trio of Moussa, Mariks and Jackson dosen't actually seem capable of scoring goals. That needs to change as those three are going to be first choices this season given they're probably the three highest paid players at the club.
I certainly have no idea what others are seeing in a promotion push. This will be a mid table season and I think the first three results of a win, draw and defeat sum it up.
It's been a kind start to the season. Oldham and Wimbledon will be fighting relegation and a little worried seeing Charlton get up and running with a 3 nil win.
Just hope the crowd stick with things, it's going to be much more of a slow burner compared to last year imo.

Re: Chesterfield (A) League One, Tues 16 Aug, 7.45pm
Can we please not have Simeon Jackson as a lone striker any more?
He looks a useful player but it is ridiculous for him spearhead our attack on his own. He is small. Why has John Whitney not noticed this? He cannot win the ball in the air against big third division centre halves. Why has John Whitney not noticed this?
It was always a ridiculous idea to put a short player as lone striker, how many matches does Whitney need before he realises this?

Decent support for a night game too.
And does the chap who said hi to me outside the ground near the pub (I had my office clothes on) post on here?
You seemed to know me but I didn't have a clue who you are, sorry :D

Re: Chesterfield (A) League One, Tues 16 Aug, 7.45pm
Felt we were decent first 60. Moussa, Makris and Jackson all linked up well and we were unlucky not to score. Kinsella did alright and Dobson I felt was fantastic with his first time direct FORWARDS passes.
Then second half came around and we were alright. Moussa came off after 10-15 minutes (probably due to fitness) and we capitulated. Couldn't keep the ball, couldn't pass, we had zero threat and the loss was coming since then.
Evans scored a good finish (which Dobson and O'Connor should have blocked) and then they got a fluke of a second which killed the game and any hope of a come back.
So a good performance for 60 minutes and then we were crap again.
Left feeling disappointed but not angry. I can tell the lads did there all and it just wasn't our day. Substitutions need to improve from Whitney though. And he also needs to stop playing Flo wide, he is wasted there and looks lost.
